Please help me with accent wall
Hi! I want to paint the wall with the windows an accent color. My go-to color is red, of course. but i've done that already. can't imagine another color that would work. do you have any ideas? inspiration colors???
The other walls are "roasted garlic" (i forgot by who) but i had them make it darker...
help!
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY ADVICE!!

Please help me with accent wall
I'm not sure in color but I wouldn't do the window wall. I not big on accent walls that are broken up. I would do the wall behind the couch.

Re: Please help me with accent wall
I agree on doing the wall with the couch. I think an accent wall is to create a focal point in the room, and the large window already is a focal point of its own, imo.
As far as color - what about choosing a different shade on the sane paint strip.... Say, a few shades darker? It's not as dramatic as a contrasting accent color, but I've seen accent walks that use that technique (just going a few shades darker or lighter than the paint color used in the ret of the room). It's hard to make a color recommendation because its hard to gauge the room based on the photo.

For something very dramatic, I would look into complementary colors. The opposite side of the color wheel would be in the red/orange family. Would you want to go lighter, or keep it a more muted shade? Maybe a burnt sienna type color, or a deep rose.

I think a darker green and as others said on the wall behind the couch. I dont think red would go with this shade of green. GL

How about Grey?

I feel like something light would be better then the dark. You can go light and do a nice photo collage on that wall

Re: Please help me with accent wall
I think accent walls are great in certain instances. In my opinion, I don't think it would necessarily look right.
Instead, I think if you did patterned curtain panels (it can even be just one on either end and then hang sheers behind it), a pattern area rug and then picked colors out of the curtains and/or rug as your accent in accessories…that would look better. The room seems a little "flat" and I think it just needs texture.
I know you have w/w carpet, I would still throw an area rug over that to anchor the room.

Great idea. I was thinking a patterned wall paper behind that wall to beef it up but I think this is exactly what the room needs.

I like the idea of a pattern on the drapes you don't even have to change all the panels just do the the 2 inside. Add some patterned pillows to the back of your arm chairs and toss something bright on the sofa and you have a new look.

Re: Please help me with accent wall
the walls are a beautiful color and I wouldn't put an accent wall if I were you. I read an article that interior designers are saying that it is no longer I style. if you really wanted to I would just do a darker green .

Re: Please help me with accent wall
Well! Ladies! You gave me different ideas! I hate painting and am actually really bad at it. but, it's cheap. I am going to be getting rid of the couch. New curtains may be cheap enough to give me a new feel. I can certainly put in textures... i know how to do that. I really was focused on painting. You all gave me new ideas! I will go with those, rather than painting.
THANKS ALL!

I don't even think you need new couches. You can easily find something to go with it.

Re: Please help me with accent wall
My adopted (and since adopted to new house, like 3 years ago) puppy dug hole in the covered couch. i want a sectional area for ME to watch t.v. on the other wall! My kids have their spots, i am TIRED of spending my time in my bed.
P.S. those chairs were my grandmas. They aren't "my style". but it's something to keep them WITH me and not with someone else.

Re: Please help me with accent wall
Fabric is a huge, great way to make a difference. I like the suggestion of patterned drapes. But I also want to make another suggestion. I think you can give your grandmas chairs an awesome update by reupholstering them. I redid my dining room chairs and they look a million times better.

This is great idea too!! You could even spray paint them a high gloss color.
