CPSE meeting
we have first CPSE meeting next week. The evaluations for my 3.5yo DS came back borderline for O/T P/T and Speech. (and the psych was basically no educational issues but anxiety, OCD and SPD). The evaluators are speculating that they will approve services for O/T and P/T but not speech. We also saw a Dev Ped that thinks he should receive all 3 services.
Is there anything we can do to prepare for the meeting? will we be asked to speak as to why we think he needs services? I am not sure exactly how these meetings work.
Also do you get to choose who provides the services if he qualifies? The place that did the evaluations is far from us and we'd rather not use them. We are thinking of having the services done at home first and if its not working out than can we choose to have them done at a school. I am thinking we should have services provided through a closer school initially even if having them done at our house in case we decide to switch to their location we can stick with providers he is familiar with.
DS is not in preschool and we are hoping to have him in UPK next year. If he still needs services next year do they get done at UPK or separately?
TIA
**ETA** How do you know what to ask for? How much services per week etc.? And besides the O/T, P/T and speech is there anything we can ask for regarding his anxiety? We would like for him to attend UPK next year but cant see him being ok with going - he has severe separation anxiety. Should we try to request SE preschool? Can you request half day 3 days a week or something like that? will they start in the middle of the year or would it have to be next year?

CPSE meeting
Do you have him in school yet? Has he ever been in early intervention? We just got approved for CPSE as of sept 1. I didnt have to say a thing...got approved pt/ot I asked our early intervention PT to write a letter which is whta I think helped the most. My son also goes to a neuro & orthopedic. I was told to bring medical records next time. We will do that when our CPSE is up in June. If need be then we can continue
We picked the agency closest to my house. It's alot to bring them there & sit & wait. I have twins so my other son is usually sitting around waiting......it's hard. Be prepared if you have other children at home.

Re: CPSE meeting
Most likely recommendations will be made to you. You will certainly have a chance to speak about your concerns. You should push for every service that he qualifies for and even ones he scored border line. Last year my dd qualified for or/pt/speech with no cognitive or behavioral issues and because of the amount of therapy we had to choose 5 days a week. At the meeting they will talk about schedule and time. They don't want to overwhelm the child with too much therapy in one day. Plus if he needs classroom/behavioral help they will want him to have time in a classroom. You could ask for special education teacher who could accompany him to a regular classroom and than take him for therapy later in the day or choose a special education preschool. It's just a personal decision and a time decision. I liked having everything in one place. I liked the schedule and that the special education preschool understood my child's needs. They have intergrated and self contained classes. It's such a great environment I'm dreading next year when she will go off to regular kindergarten.
Eta Services should start pretty quickly within a few weeks.

Re: CPSE meeting
I'm a pediatric OT and my sister is a pediatric SLP. If you FM me the test names and scores along with functional areas of deficit I can give you a realistic idea of what would be reasonable to ask for....

no we cannot afford preschool so right now I am doing preschool at home. He didn't qualify for EI though he had some delays back then.
I have a 6mo so I am leaning towards services at home so I don't have to worry about disrupting the baby.

Since we cant afford preschool I am homeschooling his preschool. But he has a lot of anxiety issues with learning etc. can you request a special education teacher for home visits?
