Bamboo flooring
We are getting ready to select flooring for the upstairs of our renovation and I think I'd like to do bamboo flooring. Does anyone have it for a whole floor in their house? How has it held up? It would be in 3 BR and the hallway.
Plus, do we get the click-lock, or not? Pre-finished?
TIA!

Re: Bamboo flooring
I have Teragren bamboo flooring in my office, kitchen, and dining room. I have the Synergy stranded stuff in the kitchen and dining room since those are very heavily trafficked. It's been almost 5 years now, and it still looks brand-new. Stranded bamboo is 150% harder than the hardest oak floor, so it's not getting damaged. I have samples that I show to friends and give them a hammer to try and dent it. It doesn't dent. The contractor who installed it had to buy special nails because the nails he used for 20+ years in his pneumatic nailer to nail hardwood flooring kept bending.
In my office, I have the traditional bamboo flooring, where you can see the appearance of the bamboo. I've had that for about 8 years. Still looks great.
I got the pre-finished stuff. I kept a sample outside for an entire year. After a year of outdoor snow, rain, extreme temps, it only needed a light sanding and a refinish to look new again. The finish was damaged, but not the actual wood.
Teragren, at least 8 years ago, was the most environmentally friendly bamboo flooring supplier. They don't clear-cut rainforests to plant their bamboo. They also use less chemicals to make the flooring.
