What kind of flooring do you have in your basement?
We will be redoing our basement and can't decide on flooring. We had the basement waterproofed but I still would prefer not carpeting just in case. DH wants tile but I prefer the look of hardwood. Suggestions welcome!

we have tile in our basement. Easy clean up if we have water issues and I didn't want wood for moisture.

Yes this is what my brother recently did.
It is so nice... He has a basement apartment in my parents house, it is a two bedroom, one full bath with an outside entrance...

We're buying a house w a finished basement. Right now there's carpeting down there, but I want to replace it with Pergo. It's going to be a playroom and I need an easy clean up!

We have hardwood but I would prefer tile if we ever redo it. Easier to clean up on tile (we have a family room there and there's always food, drinks, and messy boots since there is an outside entrance as well).

Re: What kind of flooring do you have in your basement?
We have had water issues in the past, plus we have a low ceiling (7') not including low hanging duct work, so we opted for wood look vinyl planks.
The flooring is comfortable under foot despite being laid directly on concrete.

We also have it in our pantry, just a different color.

Yeah - it's SOMEWHAT new to the scene - like last five or so years??
It's ceramic tile -just perfect for a basement.

Re: What kind of flooring do you have in your basement?
We just installed Luxury Vinyl tile planks in our den, which is on a cement slab (no basement). So it has similar issues with possible moisture as a basement might. We didn't want the issues with hardwood on a slab, and we didn't want tile or carpet. So we chose this. We are thrilled with the result and everyone raves about it. Best of all it just lays down, no underlay of any kind at all. I hated the thought of the commitment of real ceramic or stone tile.

We used carpet, but we didn't have water issues prior to using it and weren't in a flood zone. We got a mildew resistant pad just in case of moisture and 98 cents per sq foot commercial carpet from Lowes. You wouldn't believe how many people commented on it. It really warmed up the basement.
