Reassurance.
We've been contemplating ivf with pgd for a year or 2 now. Dh and I are both carriers for cystic fibrosis, so to me that is the only way we will have another baby. I can't chance having a sick baby. I fee it's not fair to knowingly have a baby that could be sick. Anyway, I am petrified of this whole entire process! I'm petrified to even call for a consult. Im not getting any younger, so I need to figure this out sooner then later. Please give me some reassurance that this isn't the scariest thing in the world.

Action reduces anxiety! U can do this. Make the call and get started. It is scary, but u will figure it out, learn the ropes and do what u need to. U have to be strong, brave and sometimes fearless but if u dig deep and want your baby bad enough, u will do it!
Make the call and jump off the cliff. The worst part is the not knowing.

Thank you! This is what I needed! I just need to stop staring at the piece of paper with dr's phone number and actually call!

@hoping2013 is right. I was scared to death when the dr told me IVF was our only hope at having the child we've wanted for a long time. I think the key is having a reassuring dr and team of nurses. My RE has been amazing throughout the entire process, although I am just now starting the process and am still nervous about the entire thing, I'm a little more at ease because he is such a reassuring dr. Don't be afraid to ask questions and lean on your DH for support..

Re: Reassurance.
The anticipation of IVF was 1000% worse than the actual IVF process itself. It's really not as hard as it seems. It sounds like you don't already have an RE so I would recommend meeting with one and if you don't feel comfortable, keep meeting with different ones until you find one you do feel comfortable with. I think it helped me tremendously that I was very comfortable with my RE and the staff at the office. Good luck!

Sending you hugs! I had the same anxiety with my first DD. I tried 3 times, doing PGD, when finally it worked. It was so anxiety filled, but to be honest, trying on our own before going for DC2 is more anxiety filled for me. IVF although scarring, was not as bad as I thought. You do need to be ready though. So wait until you know in your heart which way to go.

Re: Reassurance.
If you're not struggling with infertility, then you will likely have a good response and that will make the IVF process a lot less stressful. It's a month or two of juggling pharmacies and appts and injections and bills. Temporary. You can do it
