Fridge died after power outage
Has anyone gotten PSEG/LIPA to pay for a new fridge?? Yesterday our power went out for a couple of hours and now my fridge is not working. The light goes on but it's not cold. I have a repair man coming today and I called PSEG and put in a claim. They should at least pay for my spoiled food.

I see your point but I doubt they will pay for the fridge. Chances are, they will say the outage was from weather, down trees, etc. Since they can't control these elements, the customer is the loser. Definitely try for a credit for a spoiled food but, again, I think this is a long shot.

i hope i can at least get food covered. im waiting to hear from my homeowners insurance.

homeowners may cover the food. You won't get anything from the power company.

you can get dropped for a claim like this...that or a huge rate hike.

my homeowners insurance has a $2000 deductible. it's not even worth it to go through them for the fridge.

I have never heard of anyone being dropped or rate increase for a claim like this and I work for a major insurance company

Most likely the "mother board" went.
This happened to my fridge that was not that old. It ended up the place that I bought it from refunded me for the entire fridge to get a new one.
I believe I had to do a list of food to the insurance company. Definitely not LIPA.
Be careful of repair man. That could be a $600 bill right there. Learned that the hard way on that one. I think they were from Sears; however, that is not where the fridge was bought.
