Anyone out of power and NOT on the outage map?
There was a triangle near our house on the outage map on Friday and it said crew assigned. Houses across the lake from us and to our left got their power back over the weekend but there's still about 10 of us without power, but now the triangle is gone.
When LIPA was first around they told us it would be a long time because the transformer blew.
All our neighbors have already reported the outage (one of our neighbors needs oxygen so has been on the phone multiple times) and I reported it again yesterday.
But why is the triangle gone?
Do we have to worry about this or is the map not accurate?

Anyone out of power and NOT on the outage map?
from fb:
Long Island Power Authority - LIPA
Please be assured, we are working around the clock, seven days a week, to restore service as safely and quickly as the situation allows and we continue to request and receive additional critical support resources, with personnel arriving each day. The extreme volume of work that is being done is not yet being updated into our outage tracking system -therefore the outage map on our site might not accurately reflect the current work completed.

Re: Anyone out of power and NOT on the outage map?
We just got power back. My triangle would appear and disappear. I just don't think the map was ever reliable. At least not for my area when I looked at it. There is an article in Newsday today about this. I would keep calling just to be sure.

Re: Anyone out of power and NOT on the outage map?
There is no "Outage Management System" LIPA wants the rate payers to believe that there is some organized sophisticated computer system that manages the outages, but there is none....that is the reason for the inconsistencies, it is essentially a pen to paper system..
my area says "still assessing condition" and "no work crew assigned". Apparently it takes LIPA 7 days for them to "assess" the fact that my entire area is still without power.

I hear you! I finally have power. It was very frustrating seeing "still assessing condition". They tell you to look on there but every town said "still assessing." It was ridiculous!

Each grid is different. The transformer for our grid is nowhere near our house. We were one of the first houses to lose power on Monday. Hours later the houses on our corners lost power. They were up and running a few days ago. We are still without power.

THe maps are not accurate. THe woman on the phone at LIPA told me so and she said she even complained about it because it was wrong for her area.

Anyone out of power and NOT on the outage map?
I got power back on yesterday at like 5:30 (according to my digital clock). But at that time I was at my parents on the phone with LIPA who told me Wed, even though I already had power back!! They have no idea what they are talking about - making calls and the web page are useless. Praying you get power back soon!!

Re: Anyone out of power and NOT on the outage map?
I am the only one who didn't have power on my block. There was never a green triangle. Yesterday when I questioned it the guy pretty much told me the map doesn't mean much. Neither do the people who run the place since they had my problem wrong 3 times!!!
