Finishing basement

Has anyone finished their basement by having the beams and ceiling boards sprayed as opposed to installing sheetrock? We love the look in pictures, but are looking for reviews of people who have it in real life! Thanks!

Sounds interesting. I googled some images. Looks good. However, my concern, from my basement, is the wires that are everywhere. I have LOADS of wires running through the joists. I think it would look like a mess

i like the look of it, but we are doing soundproof insulation and sheetrock in the ceiling. If we sprayed it like that, we could hear everything from the basement on the first floor

I have done it in commercial spaces. Everything in the ceiling is painted the same color so it will all basically disappear. The thing is you need to install everything clean. Wires should be run with thought etc otherwise it will just be a jumbled mess up there. And yes there would be no sound proofing if you are concerned about that.

We're running all new electrical for basement and anything that is a concern would just be rerun. We aren't worried about soundproofing as its for our use, not as a rental. We are going to try it and see how we feel about it. we figure we can always close it up if we hate the look. Thanks for the input.
