Who's had this done in the past? What were your experiences?

With #1 it was never an option. I'm now 38wks along with #2 and my Dr said that if baby is in the right position at appointment next week then she's going to do it. I hear it's painful, but have also heard that many girls go into labor within 1-2 days of having it done. Any truth to this?

Stripping Membranes

Me! I had it done on a Thursday (39 weeks, 3 days) at 10 am and I was in labor the next day by 10 am and I had DS at 5 pm that day.

I had no pain - felt like a regular internal. I was making a lot of progress on my own. DS was in station 0 and I was like 2-3 cm dilated and 50% effaced so I was a good candidate.

I'm only 1cm right now and 0% effaced so who knows if I'd have as successful of an outcome. But I'm definitely hopeful for some further progress in the next 8 days Chat Icon

I had it done with my first. It really wasn't that painful. For others it seems to have worked well but for me, it didn't help move things along. I ended up having to be induced. GL!

I had this done with my first and I think it helped. He was a couple days overdue at that point and I was 3cm dilated already. I had him the next day.

it didn't hurt more than a regular internal...
