I'm starting my last IUI cycle this week. I'm wondering about acupuncture. Did you feel it helped? When did you go during your cycle? How many times? Recommendations? Costs? Thanks ladies.

I had a consult with a fertility acupuncture specialist a couple of weeks ago. You really have to start going when your period starts to see results. They can improve egg quality and increase egg production. It's too late to start doing it now since you are doing your IUI this week. If you move on to IVF you should start going regularly. I know a couple of people that have had success with acupuncture...but you really have to go to a fertility specialist.

Re: Acupuncture
I just started my period this week. IUI isn't for two weeks. I've already had a failed IVF, this is my last cycle, I'm done after this. Where was your consult?

Re: Acupuncture
Thinks it worth a shot. Try to get in asap. Sorry to hear. Mona Yuan, Mind, Body, Spirit acupuncture in Oceanside. I believe they are there til 2 today if you call now. She sat down with me for over and hour and talked about everything....way more than my doctor. I almost think you should hold off on the IUI and do acupuncture for a couple of months first.
516-766-0897. If that location is not convenient for you, just Google fertility specialists in your Area.
My friend used Mona and got pregnant twice though IVF. She had to do IVF because she only has one fallopian tube in addition to some other complications.

Re: Acupuncture
I did accupuncture. It took 2 full cycles before I noticed my cycle was shorter and less painful. She had told me it could take 3. Still did IVF and IVF with accupuncture worked for me the first shot.

Re: Acupuncture
Someone on one of the baby forums said her FSH dropped from 10 to 5 in just 2 months...it also helped her estrogen levels.

Well I haven't had issues with my numbers, probably just egg quality. I'll ask at the office tomorrow when I go for recommendations. I live in Suffolk, I couldn't go to Oeanside, too far for me but I'm sure there's someone closet. Thanks for all the info.

Re: Acupuncture
I seem to have an egg quality issue as well. I haven't had my first treatment yet bc I'm waiting for my period, but she said to start taking 600 mg of Coenzyme a day and Omega 3 supplements. She said they can definitely help with egg quality, which another acupuncturist who is not a fertility specialist, said she couldn't do anything for quality.
I don't use LIIVF, but I noticed on their website that they recommend a bunch of acupuncture places across LI if you want to take a look.

Thanks so much for the info. I did put myself on CoQ10, Ubiquinol, two months ago and I'm also on DHEA and vitamin D too. Friend just recommended someone to me so I'll call tomorrow AM.

Re: Acupuncture
No problem. Good luck. My doc wants to do IUI #1 this month and I would rather do a couple of months of acupuncture first...but she will freak out of I hold off another month of not doing an IUI.

Re: Acupuncture
I went to acupuncture when I started IVF cycle #4. It was a few years ago so I don't really remember too well all the details of my visits, but I did see Andrew Kaplan in RVC and he was amazing.
IVF #4 was my successful cycle.
