Re: Gel manicures while pregnant- yay or nay?

I'm gonna say it's fine. Considering when I asked my OB if I could dye my hair while pregnant, he laughed and said go ahead. Just no Botox until after 2nd trimester. I said what?!?! He said many of his patients want Botox, cosmetic surgery, you name it while pregnant!
Seriously!? I'm not even tttc yet and I already stopped drinking alcohol and got rid of my highlights. Maybe I'm just a lunatic
omg definitely drink. you don't know how long it'll take once you do start ttc. you definitely definitely can drink.
if you want to do something to prepare yourself/your body for being pregnant, start taking prenatals, and if you smoke then you should take the time now to quit. but besides that, there isn't much about daily life that you should change.

Gel manicures while pregnant- yay or nay?
I drank 2 cups a coffee a day, got gel manicures, did a Brazilian keratin treatment, drank alcohol occasionally and flew multiple times. My daughter is perfect :)
The only things I would be very careful with are some skin care products. Like if you use proactiv stop now. I was also weirdly paranoid about foot and leg massages during pedis since supposedly there is a pressure point in the bottom of your foot that can cause preterm labor.

Re: Gel manicures while pregnant- yay or nay?
I soak a cotton ball and hold it over each nail for almost a minute I guess and it comes off
Sometimes I soak my nails in a bowl of nail polish remover

That's so weird. I always buy non acetone nail polish remover and the few times I've done it at home it's been fine

Gel manicures while pregnant- yay or nay?
While pregnant I did the SNS Gel Powder - lasted longer than the regular gel. No UV lighting.

Oh I didn't see that. If it's coming off with non acetone remover it's not done right. Right after they do mine they wipe it down with non acetone remover to clean it and the polish doesn't budge. It's not supposed to

I flew, dyed my hair, and got gel manis the whole time. My son was born 10lbs 15oz, so he was clearly unaffected lmao
how long was the longest flight?
I flew to Florida at the end of June when I was due August 4th. The doctor said it was fine, I think you aren't supposed to fly within 2 weeks of your due date or something. I felt okay, its not like we were going to a 3rd world country where if I were to go into labor, there'd be no hospitals

You would have to conceive within the next two weeks to even know you're pregnant by Christmas.

oh gotcha.. makes sense. you can definitely fly for most of the pregnancy if you are in good health otherwise. You doctor will let you know for sure, but normally its a month before your due date (maybe?) they tell you not to fly.

Re: Gel manicures while pregnant- yay or nay?
I flew overseas for work around 26-ish weeks pregnant. My OB didn't want me flying in my 3rd trimester because I went early with my first. Other than that, she just wanted me to stand up and walk every hour, so I made sure not to fly overnight. I also flew with a note from my OB stating that I was healthy to fly and when my due date was, in case i had any issues at the airport.
Every airline has their own rule about how late they will let you fly, but generally you shouldn't fly in your last month because you aren't supposed to be farther than an hour from the hospital.
