Lettuce wraps

How did I never know about these? Made some last night and I loved it. I did an Asian pork wrap with broccoli and hoisin.

Yummy!

I see myself going through a lettuce wrap stage soon...

Here’s the recipe:

http://www.laurainthekitchen.com/recipes/chicken-lettuce-wraps/

I skipped the water chestnuts, used pork, and added broccoli.

I also added my homemade hoisin:

Re: Lettuce wraps

Yes! Collard green leaves work well too - but you have to blanch and ice bath them first. I love using greens as wraps!

Also your hoisin sauce recipe sounds delicious!

Thanks! The hoisin sauce was really tasty. I’ve been picking at it all day.

I don’t have access to collard greens here. I could always do Romaine (no problems here with Romaine), but I just really like iceberg.

I just spent part of my afternoon break looking at lettuce wrap recipes. Chat Icon

Re: Lettuce wraps

I ordered some in a restaurant the other night and while they were delicious i found them very hard to eat- they kept falling apart and making a huge mess!

Saving that hoisin recipe!

I like lettuce wraps with Boston lettuce. It holds up well and has a nice crunch. Love it with some buffalo chicken, shredded carrots, and blue cheese. Dh doesn't quite know what to make of them so I don't make them often though lol.

They are messy. Messy like tacos. You need to get just the right piece of lettuce.

I added srichara to my hoisin. I even threw some on the wraps. I’m an addict!

Re: Lettuce wraps

Made the hoisin sauce last night - it’s really great! DH was raving about it. I doubled the recipe so I have it on hand to use again this weekend. Added extra chili-garlic sauce, garlic cloves and black pepper. Chat Icon

Yay! I’ll have to try adding the things you did. I always add extra garlic, so I’ll try the other 2. I think, even some ginger can work.

Oooh yeah ginger! I should’ve added that last night.
I’m out of sriracha so I subbed the chili-garlic sauce for it. Just wanted to clarify that for you!

I got a full stock of sriracha, lol.

You could probably even use the sauce for this noodle recipe:

https://smittenkitchen.com/2015/08/takeout-style-sesame-noodles-with-cucumber/

Then add in extra veggies and some Tahini. I think it’s vegan, but I’m not sure.

ETA: To clarify, I’d leave out all the ingredients that you used for the sauce (unless you need more), and just add Tahini. I use Soba noodles.
