Birthday Parties Question
My DD is in Pre-k and this year she is starting to get invited to birthday parties from girls (so far no boys) in her class. In the past we typically only did birthday parties with her cousins/kids of our friends (even then still a lot of kids) I know that by the time her birthday rolls around she will want to do a birthday party with the kids from her class as well. How do you manage this when most of the party limits are for say, 15 kids? Do you do separate parties for kids from school and family? I know there are 2-3 girls she always talks about but I am not sure if its taboo to only invite a few girls and not all the girls in the class.

Re: Birthday Parties Question
I never mixed family with friend parties. Family we'd have over to our house for very low key cake and pizza when she started friend parties in like K or 1st we just invited people from her class

Re: Birthday Parties Question
We have a big family and in the past have just done big parties with everyone. Recently have switched to friend parties and then family get together at night

Birthday Parties Question
I always struggled with this myself. Pretty much once I started invited class friends/ school- neighborhood friends I stopped inviting our friends kids. That alone is more than 15 people so I would try to have it places that either included a greater number of kids or charged a reasonable amount for extra kids beyond what the place included. Also most years I will separate the cousins out and have a separate family party at the house with cake and coffee.
ETA:
I have always invited the whole class in the younger grades. My older DD is in 2nd grade and for the first time this year I only invited the girls. I would say unless you are only invited a couple of kids from the class, it is best to invite either the whole class or one gender.

Birthday Parties Question
I do one party. This is what my SIL has always done with her kids and honestly I don’t want to host 2 parties. Everyone has kids though. If that weren’t the case I’d probably have 2 parties.
As far as inviting the whole class, I wouldn’t. I just did this because I felt guilty leaving anyone out and it was ridiculous. It was too many kids. One father came up to me during the party to ask if his son was in DD’s class because he’d “never seen or heard of her.”
A lot of places can fit more that 15 kids but you have to pay per kid after a certain amount, which adds up fast.
