If people are putting gas in things other than vehicles, I hope they understand how to store it.
OMG, someone posted a pic of someone pumping gas into tupperwear storage bins. I have to go back and check which state it was in.
Yeah...that's the kind of thing that can lead to some bad stuff.

I thought the new said that people were panicking for no reason and there’s no need to go panic buy gas!!
Shiism I be panicking lol. Either way I did tell DH to fill up his car we never drive it but just so it has gas in it but that was the only thing planning on doing. I guess I can fill my car up but I have over half a tank already.

It's not affecting us up here... it's more the Southeast states
It will affect us if people decide to panic buy gas for no reason though

A growing number of gas stations along the East Coast are without fuel as nervous drivers aggressively fill up their tanks following a ransomware attack that shut down the Colonial Pipeline, a critical artery for gasoline.
The panic-buying threatens to exacerbate the supply shock. US gasoline demand climbed by 14% on Tuesday compared with the week before, according to GasBuddy, an app that tracks fuel prices and demand.
What is Colonial Pipeline?
The Colonial Pipeline system spans more than 5,500 miles and transports about 45% of all fuel consumed on the East Coast. It transports 2.5 million barrels per day of gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and home heating oil.
What happened?
The run on fuel began after a ransomware attack Friday shut down the Colonial Pipeline. The company said Monday it hopes to be substantially operational by the end of the week after a hack that authorities believe was carried out by a criminal group called DarkSide. As of Tuesday, most of the pipeline remained offline.

What should you do?
The best thing for car owners to do right now is take a deep breath and don't rush to fill your tanks unless you have to. A big part of the problem is panic, Tiffany Wright of AAA Carolinas said. "We are our own worst enemy in this situation because we are over-consuming at the pump."
Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm pleaded with Americans not to hoard gas as the pipeline attempts to resume operations.
"Let me emphasize that much as there was no cause for say, hoarding toilet paper at the beginning of the pandemic, there should be no cause for hoarding gasoline," Granholm said during Tuesday's White House press briefing, "especially in light of the fact that the pipeline should be substantially operational by the end of this week and over the weekend."
If you don't need gas until next week, there shouldn't be any concern. If you need gas this week, don't panic, and don't hoard, especially on LI.

How are the gas stations out there?
Phew - I got gas yesterday before I even realized because although there is no reason to be alarmed, I am sure people are lol.
We are supposed to go away for the weekend - hopefully gas is available.

How are the gas stations out there?
I got gas today because I needed it, no problems, in and out like usual. I also didn't know that they were trying to make it an issue here.

The pipeline is back up and running - and frankly it was down for days before the media found out about it.

They blow everything out of proportion to scare people. She was standing there too with a mask on, no one around talking about how it cost her $80 now to get to work. Ummm the price will be going down so another scare tactic to make people go crazy. They are fighting each other in NC at gas stations, it is ridiculous.

Yeah I saw photos of people putting gas in a giant plastic bin. Seriously?! It's going to be super heavy to carry/lift and how are they going to get it in their car? And does gas eat thru cheap plastic after a while?
It's such a "screw everyone else" selfish mindset.

Yeah I saw photos of people putting gas in a giant plastic bin. Seriously?! It's going to be super heavy to carry/lift and how are they going to get it in their car? And does gas eat thru cheap plastic after a while?
It's such a "screw everyone else" selfish mindset.
And gasoline exposed to air like that will go bad very quickly, and evaporate very fast, so chances are, by the time they try to use it, that bin will either be empty, or filled with something that won't run the car.... 
ETA: or, since gasoline left out like that creates a lot of explosive fumes, there's a good chance it will explode with the slightest spark...
