Pretty sure its 5 days quarantine and then 5 days in a mask. Day 1 is date of positive test.
Day one is supposed to be the onset of symptoms. Not the day you test. I’ve had multiple doctors tell me this.
Making day 1 the day you test is dumb. What if you felt sick for a few days but didn’t bother to test for a few days. The clock doesn’t start until some lab test says so?
The CDC website has a calculator where it will tell you how long you need to stay home for. The calculator doesn’t care if/when you test anymore. It goes by the day of symptoms. 5 days quarantine from start of symptoms and 5 days with a mask on. Anybody that says the clock doesn’t start until you test is using antiquated information.
How about not testing anymore and just staying home if you are sick? Treat this like every other virus and illness that people just get and don’t run to the doctor or test about. 3 years later people don’t want to move on and still hung up just on this.

That would be great of people actually did stay home when they were sick but they don't and choose to spread their nasty germs all over the place.

People like that will do the same thing even if they test positive for Covid. If they don't care about spreading the flu and every other virus going around, what makes you think a 2nd line on a Covid test will stop them?

It has been like that for centuries. This is nothing new so I don't understand why anyone is shocked by that. We can only do what we can do to keep ourselves healthy.

Exactly and I wonder if people are wearing masks also because they are sick and don't want to stay home.

People can not stay home every time they get a runny nose or a cough. It is just ridiculous. Today the nurse called because my daughter had rosy cheeks. I was like, does she have a fever, no, so why are you calling me send her back to class.

Wow, yeah we were only allowed to stay home if we had a fever. I know in daycare it was diarrhea that they made them stay home.

This is the problem. People are sick and don’t stay home. My brother who tested positive for Covid went about his business as usual that same day. He was coughing and sneezing everywhere. He said he couldn’t be inconvenienced with a mask…. I can understand not wearing a mask when you’re healthy but he infected god knows how many people. It’s just inconsiderate but I’ve learned most people are inconsiderate so I still wear a mask to work and other crowded settings. I hate being sick and everyone where I work is currently sick with something (Covid, pneumonia, flu, colds, etc).

I'm such a baby when I'm even slightly sick that I don't leave the house. I can't even think of getting dressed, doing my hair ertc and going anywhere when feeling crappy. I like to lie around and moan and complain and make DH's life miserable until I feel better.

Usually by the time you feel like you are sick, you are not really contagious anymore.
Honestly you really can't and shouldn't avoid illness. The best we can do is keep our immune system up but everyone gets sick and if you try and avoid it you are not helping your immune system to work the natural way it should be.

You’re most contagious for the first 5 days and the 1-2 days before. So he was definitely contagious.
Even wearing a mask you’re exposed to germs on a daily basis. I’m not living in a bubble. I am in close contact with 150 kids a day. Many are sick right now and attending school. A girl today came in the pneumonia and could barely keep her head off the desk but she had been on antibiotics for 24 hours so she was “good”. Another student came in with 102 fever and a flu diagnosis but didn’t want to miss anymore school.
I’ll continue to do what I can to reduce my risk when directly exposed to sick kids every day of the week.
