I don't believe a word she says about this issue. I think she's a lovely woman with a great sense of humor, who loves her son a whole lot, but I just don't trust her opinion on this matter.
If I need information on a medical issue -I will find research from doctors, or qualified experts. Not celebrities who have a child who may or may not have Autism. That's just me.

I highly doubt that if I had a child with Autism and I wrote this book, anyone would read it. Simply being a celebrity does not make you an expert, or a reliable source.

But, just out of curiosity...why is this posted on every board?

well girly..as said before....that...its not her research..if it would be hers...i wouldnt listen...lol...but its many doctors...who do the research..and she is the one...telling a story..thats all...i dont think her son was misdiagnosed...
if you read more from previous posts..u will see that its true..me and u can write abook..noone willl listen...but if a celebrity does....people will hear more about it...hear the other side of the story...at least read her story..look online...find those DAN docs (Defeat Autism Now)...and just simply see what they have to sayyy...because speech therapy and other things..do help too..but autism involves a lot more to it really,...!!! there are health issues that are linked too u know..child gets allergic reactions...has too much yeast in their body ...etc...
I had no idea until i saw it online...read her story..and many other stories that are in her book.....

But if it's a book to prove her point, then the research she provides will work to serve that purpose.
I'd listen to KeithHernandez and do some more research on the topic if you are truly interested....more than one point of view is the only way to really find out about something.

And, for future reference...most grown women that I know don't really like being called "girly". Chat Icon

im not offended either... and i agree with lots of other PP that said DO MORE RESEARCH on this topic

i just dont like my thoughts getting twisted when i say that i dont have a problem with the fact that it is obvious that she is willing to help her son in every way - i think she is giving FALSE HOPE to parents with autistic children by saying anything the words "cured" or "healed"

ok..thanks!! Chat Icon

No popcorn needed. I just cannot believe that someone would believe what Jenny McCarthy writes and ONLY believes that.

HOWEVER, if what she writes makes someone research the subject more, than that's a good thing.

alright..listen......... i dont make u believe anything and dont tell me what to put or not to put...
anyway...i believe what i believe..i do believe what she writes...and i also believe other docs..too ...im not close minded like urself...and not say that regular docs are wrong ok...

Chill on the name calling GIRLY. Not necessary.

Yeah. That is definitely "popcorn" worthy. Especially when everyone is taking the time to respond to you without a million ........................., typos, and improper use of punctuation.

I agree - but this is one of those topics that will cause a stir. A LOT of educated women here with multiple views, and the OP didn't seem to have the correct perspective on current research and statistics.

It was being debated in a reasonable way until the "girly you are talking too much" type of comments were made, which people perceived as condescending and drama-ish, which set the thread into flames.

This is a topic that is near and dear to my heart, and I will always come on to say what the research shows, and BEG on hands and knees to all mothers to please research until your eyes fall out if you need to, but just don't end your research with JennyChat Icon

ETA - and my comment about Reggie was making fun of myself, since Leslie knows I don't know the difference between the Yankees and the Mets Chat Icon
