1-800 Flowers Vent!

So DH, who has been away at a training course for two weeks, send me flowers for Valentine's Day. He always does this, or delivers them himself - so sweetChat Icon .

So - how do I know he sent me flowers? Because they delivered them today!! I am sick and stayed out of work today, so I didn't even get the delivery- my friend called and told me.

So, I called DH and told him because I KNEW he'd never have them delivered the day before - esp since he told me I had to go back to work tomorrowChat Icon

Get this - when he placed the order - 1800Flowers offered a 25% discount to deliver them a day early and he told them no - so they do it anyway!!Chat Icon He called them and got the discount, but that really stinks!

That's why I always order from Pro-Flowers.

Re: 1-800 Flowers Vent!

I interned at 1800 flowers.why I don't know..but for a week after V-day alst year it was all hands on deck to call people to try to make up for MAJOR eff ups. My own flowers did not get to me, but were delivered to someoen named Jose, and the flowers I ordered for my mom arrived 3 days later looking NOTHING like the picture.

They also bait and switched me on what my position would be as an intern, so I should now have been surprised.

I ordered from them once years ago - they never even delivered the flowers!Chat Icon I only use ProFlowers as well.
I am emailing their customer service because I feel like they should have done more than given DH the 25% discount - the major part of getting the flowers is the surprise and they f-d that up!Chat Icon

They're awful. Brad tried sending me flowers for v-day at work two years ago and they didn't come until the next day!

Re: 1-800 Flowers Vent!

All these companies suck. I never received stuff from 800flowers when I was supposed to on V-day.

Pro Flowers really isn't that much better because I once received roses from them and they looked like they were 5 days old when I got them. Not good looking at all.

Best route is always a local florist in the area where the delivery is taking place. But of course that requires more work and we all know men can be lazy since online ordering is always so much easier. Chat Icon

He has done that in the past - ordered from local florists - but he's also delivered me flowers from 1800 and never had a problem before. I will call until I get through to them - even if it's not until Friday!

1800Flowers I think uses local florist deliveries (if its stated that the item being ordered qualifies for local florist delivery). So while the quality will be good, since there is a middle man here (1800flowers) there is a high possibility of delivery screwups.

ProFlowers I think UPS ships them, I don't think they are florist delivered. So while delivery rates are good, since the flowers are boxed overnight they may not look as good.

I have had mixed experiences with both places. But I hope you enjoy your flowers! Chat Icon

Years ago, I was home and my husband was at work. The phone rings and the person asked to speak to my hubby. I asked if I could take a message and the girl said, "Oh, I'm so and so from 1800 Flowers and I had a question about his order." I said, "Oh, well I guess those flowers are for me." Chat Icon

On two occasions, he specifically ordered a tulip arrangement and each order arrived with no tulips. However, they did send brand new bouquets each time they messed up and let us keep the originals.

Re: 1-800 Flowers Vent!

Haha I worked there for two years and every Valentines day since I am so thankful NOT to be there anymore. I was a web designer and ended up being customer service on holidays. It was AWFUL!
For mothers day I sent my own mother flowers and then never got to her.

ETA - Honestly, the best route is using a local florist. You get better quality and service for a lower price.

Re: 1-800 Flowers Vent!

I had a very bad experience with 1-800-Flowers once.

For Mother's Day my sister and I got my Mom a vase of tulips - well, they send a big PLANT instead! Like, this BUSH or something. So, I called and said there was a mistake and explained.

The lady on the phone's reaction? "Oh, no mistake - when we run out of something - specifically on busy days like V-Day and Mother's Day we just choose something else. So, they ran out of tulips and pick the next best or closest thing"

UMM the closest thing to a tulip is a BUSH?????

I agree, especially if you have a relationship with them (ordering from the same place).

I don't think 1800FLowers is necessarily at fault here. I think the local florists pay more attention to their own customers and give the leftover effort and flowers to 1800FLOWERs people because it's not their reputation on the line and they don't get the angry calls.

I ordered yellow roses to be delivered for my best friends birthday one year and she received such a pathetic bouquet I just could not believe it. When I called to complain they offered to replace the arrangement for free. The second arrangement was just as pathetic and I refuse to ever use them again Chat Icon

So sorry they messed up your Valentine's delivery

Re: 1-800 Flowers Vent!

that blows...

I always order from a local florist. I also order days in advance.

I specifically never order on Mother's Day or Valentines.

I've had too many problems but the least amount with the local florists.

My mother;s friends sent flowers from 1800flowers when mom wasn't feeling well a few years ago.
When they came over to visit, mom said to them "TY for the flowers"..Her friends were like "They sent you THAT"?? It was a pretty crappy arrangement. The friends got right on the phone and new flowers arrived.
My mother told us all this story and we never ever used them.
We stick with the local florist who did my wedding and does amazing work.

He knew i always wanted to have flowers sent to me at work.. and it got Ruined!!! 1-800 flowers gave us such a hard time and refused to give my dh his money back.. they stink!

That happened to me one Christmas, I sent a basket to my cousins in PA and I had the delivery date as 12-24 and they delivered it on the 16th! I haven't used them since.
