1 More question for moms of 4 year olds!
I am thinking of getting either Leapfrog Leapster, Nintendo DS or Wii....
I am getting mixed reviews on what he's too young for-
I dont mind spending the $ for an "older" toy, but if its going to become obsolete by the time he gets to the suggested age, Id rather wait...does that make sense?
Sorry if I'm confusing, but these boy toys are so foreign to me!!!
Also- I have a 3 year old son also, if that makes any difference on choices!

well, i personally wouldn't suggest the leapster because i feel like my kids never even played with it. the nintendo ds is a bit advanced too.. you are best off with the wii if you are gonna get any of them... i think the best age to start them on that stuff is like 5 and up. HTH

I have a 4 year old DD and she loves to play the Wii. She does Wii Sports - tennis, bowling and golf and she has a blast. She also has a princess game that she loves to play. She also love re-designing her "mii" too. I would recommend the Wii and I think your whole family will enjoy it.

Ava is 4 and has the Leapster. She really likes it. She is my oldest, so she has never even seen a DS or Wii.

DS is 5 we got him a leapster last Christmas - he loves it. He can really play with it on his own a this point. I would recommend it.

DS got a Leapster at age 3 (he is 4.5 now) and he LOVES it. Plays it a lot, has a ton of games and really learns things from the games. I love that its portable too, so he can bring it on long car rides if he wants.
As a family, we also have the Wii system. DS loves it and can play all the Wii sports games very well. He loves the bowling, baseball, tennis and golf. It's great that we can all play together too.
So, if you want learning and alone time for your son, get the Leapster. If you want real play and to have other people play, get Wii.

Re: 1 More question for moms of 4 year olds!
Kiera got the leapster for her 4th birthday and she loves it. We have the wii as a family and she loves that as well but does not understand it as much. As far as growing out of them, the wii will definitely get you more years but I can tell you that my 6 year old nephew still plays his leapster. And a really nice benefit of the leapster is you can take it with you.
I would not do DS at this age. I would wait until about 7 which is probably about the same time that he would be growing out of the leapster.
