1st buyer questions
Hi this is my 1st post on LIF, I hope I am in the right place. My DH and I just got married almost 4 months ago and we would love to move into a bigger place. We were thinking of getting another apt. but I would love to get a co-op if we could afford it. I really would love to know who I can talk to about mortgages and 1st time buyer questions.
TIA

Re: 1st buyer questions
My FH is actually a mortgage banker. If nothing else, he could definitely answer any questions that you may have. We also just went through the whole process ourselves bc we just bought a house, so I'd definitely be able to help you out. You can FM me if you'd like.

This is definitely the right place! There's a lot of people here that have done everything that you are planning on doing, thinking of doing, or want to think about doing. Either ask away and/or use the Search feature. I'm sure you'll find answers to whatever you need.

Re: 1st buyer questions
Welcome to the board! Congrats on your marriage! We just bought a year ago, so ask any questions you like on this board. And if you are interested in a co-op my mom is selling hers. Let me know if you want the information.

Re: 1st buyer questions
Mary, the Home forum was vital to me keeping my cool during the house buying process. We didn't use a real estate broker, so I had those questions plus all the usual ones. Everyone here is helpful.
Welcome, and I second the notion of the Search feature. So many of us have been through it before, so chances are, there's an existing discussion here about it. You could even reply to an old thread if you had additional questions on what was discussed.
Oh, and welcome.

Re: 1st buyer questions
If you guys have time I suggest looking into the lotteries - they have them for new complexes going up and such...
I wish I had more information but I'm sure someone on here will.
My friend was able to buy a condo for around $250K - they retail for $475K but because he won this lottery he was able to buy it for so little.

Re: 1st buyer questions
We bought a co-op after we got married and right now we're in the process of selling it and hoping to get a house on the island. Let me know if you have any questions. The whole co-op buying process wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Oh and if youre looking in Bayside, I have a nice co-op for you :)
