1st cycle on clomid question
Hi Ladies!
I'm hoping that some of you have had a similar experience cuz i'm really getting confused and a little frustrated...
I've been ttc for about 8 months since I mc'd in december. My cycles after that had been really irregular (anywhere from 21 days to 29 days), and I definitely ovulated every month (according to OPKs and/or temp readings), but my OB decided to put me on clomid to help regulate my cycle. I took it for the first time this month on days 5-9 at 50 mg. My doc said that I should get a positive OPK reading on CD13 or 14...it's now CD16 and i'm still getting a negative! I typically O'd on day 13 or 14 before the clomid, and I had always gotten some EWCM, but so far I've barely had any CM!
So, for those that have taken clomid, when did you see the positive OPK?? Did taking clomid change anyone's CM patterns??
thanks for your help ladies!!

Re: 1st cycle on clomid question
I haven't started clomid yet, but, per my dr. and the ladies on here, clomid definately has an effect on your CM.

Re: 1st cycle on clomid question
Clomid thickens your CM, which sometimes can make it hard for the little swimmers to make it through. You might was to look into using something like Preseed.
I have heard from some that they ovulate later on Clomid but some ovulate exactly the same. Since your cycles are irregular, I would think you would ovulate later rather than sooner. If you are unsure and worried you might miss it, go to your doctor and have the do bloodwork and a sono to see where you are at in your cycle. Many doctors actually require this close monitoring. You don't want to waste a cycle!
Good luck!

Re: 1st cycle on clomid question
Clomid is known to dry up your CM. Are you being seen by a RE or a regular OBGYN? You need to be monitored while taking Clomid. There is no "set" CD day you should be getting a postive OPK, everyone is different. I never surged on Clomid until around CD20-22. Also, I had to stop using the OPKs because I ALWAYS got false positives on them when I was on Clomid.

Re: 1st cycle on clomid question
Is your dr monitoring you with blood and sonos at all? That is really what helps to see when you're O'ing. Also, with a Clomid cycle, it's better for them to monitor u so they can see how many follies you have.

Re: 1st cycle on clomid question
Thanks for all the info! makes me feel better to know when some of you o'd!
I did have a sono right before my doc (OB) put me on clomid, and I've had the normal 3CD & 21 CD blood tests done. apparently my progesterone was really low.
my doctor told me that if I dont get pregnant this time, then she'll bump me up to 100mg.

You need to be monitored with bloodwork and sonograms during a Clomid cycle as well, not just on CD3. That is the only surefire way to confirm your surge

Re: 1st cycle on clomid question
It didn't change my CM. I took it 2 cycles. The first cycle I O'd days 13-14 and the second cycle it was 18-19.

Exactly what I was going to say. Just give it a couple more days.
