1st IVF cycle-some questions about fert report
I just had my egg retrieval yesterday. I had 15 eggs retrieved. Of those 15, 9 were mature and 4 fertilized. Is this a bad number?? I am a little worried that they won't make it to Tuesday, when I have my 3 day transfer. Any insight? Anyone have similar numbers? This is so stressful!!!!

1st IVF cycle-some questions about fert report
did you do ICSI or natural fertilization? are there sperm issues? what are your issues? 4 does seem a tad low but a lot depends on your specific situation. if you plan to transfer 2 you should still be able to do a day 3 transfer with 4 fertilized. good luck!

Re: 1st IVF cycle-some questions about fert report
My stats weren't so far off on my first IVF cycle... but a lot also depends on the quality of your embryos. By day 3, I had 4 embryos, transferred 3, and the 4th didn't make it to freeze. I ended up with triplets that cycle.

Re: 1st IVF cycle-some questions about fert report
We are dealing with unexplained infertility. I do have one son (he is 4.5 yrs old) that we conceived naturally after two months of trying. I have had one miscarriage since then and have been trying to get pregnant for the past 28 months, the last 7 months under the care of rsofny. I had 6 iui's (two natural and four medicated). There are no male factors, although my husband is currently suffering from kidney stones and the medication he is on for that could have affected his sample, but his count has always been extremely high. Thanks for your input. I can't believe how stressful this process is!

Re: 1st IVF cycle-some questions about fert report
My numbers were almost exactly the same as yours. 16 retrieved, 12 mature, 4 fertilized. DH's sample was great. I was really disappointed. Of course they reminded me that it only takes 1 so I just said what will be will be. I have no idea what happened to the 3 remaining embryos they didn't transfer, but the one they transferred was a perfect 8 cell embryo 3 days later. Even with mild OHSS it stuck and I got my BFP.
Everyone is different, but it sounds like you are being monitored really closely. Good luck!

I had 6 retrieved, 5 mature, and 2 fertilized via ICSI. Both made it to day 3 and we transferred both. I'm 32 weeks pregnant with a singleton.
