1st time mom question
DD is our 1st and only child.
what do I say to other parents who laugh and mock at my choices to a. only have 1 child and b. how careful we're being about not bringing her out around people and esp. other children for awhile (she was 5 weeks early and so we're being extra careful).
she'll be 11 weeks on wed and is getting her 1st round of vaccines on tuesday.
i'm also following what our ped told us about when we could bring her out to public places.
i'm so tired and annoyed with the laughing and eye-rolling and the remarks.
how do i handle these women?
TIA!

Re: 1st time mom question
I usually say- when you pay my bills and live my life for me, then you can comment on my choices.
The same thing with the "advice" about taking her out, breastfeeding, swaddling, etc etc etc- I just say- well when you are raising her you can do what you want, but I am raising her, so I'll make my own choices, thanks.

Re: 1st time mom question
I would ignore them. It's none of their business!!! Don't let any of it bother you, people always have something to say no matter how you choose to do things.
I was extremely careful with my DS and very anal about where he could go and when when he was a newborn. You don't have to answer to anyone bc those people who have so much to say aren't going to be up with you all night, worrying, if your DD is sick.
As for the only child thing, again, no one else's business. I am an only child, my DH is an only child, my DS may be an only child. I just would stop sharing any details about anything you have decided with those who choose to criticize.

I'm so sorry that people are saying things like that to you. I have to say, you just need to ignore them. As a mom of an only myself, I have grown some tough skin. As he reaches his almost-second birthday, I'm also more confident in myself as a mom and more easily feel comfortable with my choices. As time goes on, you'll feel the same. Lots of

Re: 1st time mom question
My first was a preemie too and we got the same reactions from people.
There is not much you can do except just ignore them and go about your business. It sucks and it's frustrating, but don't waste your breath trying to explain your parenting to anyone.
