1st Vacation with your LO
How old was your DC & where did you go when you went on your first family vacation?
DH and I love to travel & we were thinking of doing something the upcoming year when DS is a little older (He is 10 weeks now), but still was not sure if we are jumping the gun and if we should wait till he is at least a year or so.

We didn't trael with DS#1 until he was 10 months. This little one has been to Florida when he was 3months and 6 months already.

Go for it! I love taking DD away with us.
We went to NY for a week when she was 4 months for the holidays (stayed with my mom), wasn't really a "vacation" where we stayed at a resort, etc but 1st time flying with her.
We went to Disney for a long weekend when she was 6 months old... then again when she was 8 months.
To Boston when she was 9 months (her 2nd time flying) for a long weekend, stayed with my sister.
Then back to NY when she was 11 months old (3rd time flying)... and we're going back again next week for the holidays! She'll be 16 months.
Our first real vacation will probably be sometime in 2011... probably a cruise. We're also doing Key West and Disney both in April, meeting friends.

First road trip was to DC when Mason was 5 months old. He slept a lot so it was fine
First trip away was to Aruba in the winter time. DS was 8.5 months old. Lots of fun, but he just started crawling so that was hard.

We took DS to Disney World when he was 4.5 months old. We drove...The we went upstate for a weekend. We have been to NH twice. He is 13 months old now...

Our first real family vaca was when DS was 7 months old, we went to FL.
ETA: We drove to MD for 4 days when DS was 4 months old.

DD has been all over
Drove to Hilton Head Island when she was 6 weeks
Flew to California to visit DH's family when she was 6 months
Flew to Florida to New York Mets Spring Training when she was 7 months
Flew to Italy (duh) when she was 10 months (spent 3 weeks there)
Flew to Disney World when she was 14 months.
Travelling with her at each age had its pluses and minuses, although I do think the last two trips were harder than the ones when she was younger.

We went on our first road trip (Boston) when DS was 4m old and our first plane trip (Caribbean) when DS was 10m old.

We went to the Berkshires when DS was 7.5 months old. We went with several other people and rented a house there. It was a good place to go with an infant.

We did a road trip to newport RI when DD was 3 months. Next trip will either be a cruise or trip to Spain and dd will be 1 by that time.

1st road trip to Pitt was 2.5 mos
1st plane ride to Pitt was 6 mos
1st Carribbean vacation (to the DR) was 7 mos - we found it to be good in that he could sit in a high chair and be entertained forever by eating his puffs one by one. he also would sometimes sleep in the stroller after dinner. the downside was the hotel sleeping arrangements. we didnt have a balcony or anything and he went to bed early which meant we had no choice but to go to bed early too. he also hated the hotel crib so getting him to nap twice a day let alone once a day was torture. and again, then one of us was stuck in the dark quiet room bc we had no balcony.
DD will be going on her 1st plane trip/Carribbean vacation (Turcks & Caicos) at 9 mos. This time we got a patio so we could sit outside while they sleep

we went to chicago when DS was 8 months. he was fine...but it sucked to go back to the hotel early for his 6:30 bedtime. some nights we let him sleep in his stroller.

This summer we drove to Myrtle Beach with her, she was 7 months at the time

We went for a weekend in Mystic CT, when DS was 6 months. He loved the aquarium! It was perfect, he napped on the way there and on the way back.

We went to Mohonk Mountain House w/ DS for 4 days when he was 11 months. It was a quick drive (2.5 hours from Suffolk), and very family friendly! We had a great time.

first was Miami in May (so about 6 months)
then Virginia in August (about 9 months)
then Spain/Italy the day after his first birthday.
this year we'll be staying within the continental US most likely, but we will be taking our man to see his country!
cannot wait!

At 4 months we went to Sedona and the Grand Canyon. It was so easy to travel with her at that age!!

We took both girls to Disney when they were 5 months old. They may not remember is but we got some great pictures and we had a good time.
