24 Hour Urine Collection Question

Well after spending the entire day at labor and delivery I was sent home with a container to do a 24 hour urine collection because they found protein in my urine and my blood pressure was slightly elevated. I was just wondering for those who have done this before if during the collection process the "sample" has to be kept in the refrigerator or can it be kept at room temperature? They never mentioned anything to me about this and I am supposed to start tomorrow morning. Thanks!

has to be kept in the fridge..also if you start tomorrow then you don't use tomorrow's first morning urine. You start with your 2nd, but then the following day you end the 24 hours with that day's first morning urine.

I had to do a few of them when I was pregnant with DS. I was always told to keep it in the fridge.

Crashing -

When I was preggo I had to do the stupid 24 hour urine test like 6 times - and never once did my doctor or the hospital ever tell me to keep it in the fridge. The thought of keeping my pee in the fridge is gross!


eta - I just kept the container in the bathroom next to the toilet.
