Those #s are pretty high! go to a different doctor and see what they say. I wouldn't continue to waste my time or money with these people

Thanks for the update - their lack of ANY optimism seems a tad cold, expecially since it is so early on and your #s are so high. I would not even bother discussing D&C unless you have had another sonogram (after at least your 8w mark) that shows nothing and your #s have gone down, but that is just me. I think the medical profession is the last place one should jump to conclusions so easily.
Totally different scenario, but I'm sharing b/c this is why I think NO doctors should be allowed to say crap like that. DH had his first grand mal seizure ever when he was 30, so no one knew what to make of it. The neurologist affiliated w/ the hospital where the ambulence took him said they were convinced he would never have another and that it was a one-time thing. We got a second opinion and they said the same thing. He had another seizure shortly thereafter which developed into a pattern, and another neurologist found a lesion in his brain AFTER 2 DOCTORS had so quickly jumped to conclusions and said "nah, it'll never happen."
Sorry for the ramble, but I HATE doctors who do what yours is doing to you. Please keep us posted.

If they said you M/C a week ago and you weren't that far along there is no way that number should be so high.
I'm hopign they are drawing more HCG levels on you and do another sonogram.
Please get another MD in a totally new practice. If you are having such incompetence as this now, will you really trust them during the rest of your pregnancy and deliery??
I will keep for you and I hope you come back to tell us that those A-holes were wrong!

I am sorry you have been put through all this and I hope that you still have your peanut.
I am actually surprised that the nurse would tell you something like that and over the phone. I had a sono at 6 weeks with my DS and tech told me not to expect anything except a sac and she was surprised when we saw the heartbeat.
I would also find a new practice. If you did miscarry that seems like a very cold way of telling someone that.

I would of went to the hospital and had them give me a sonogram! I can't believe you have to deal with all of this.... Hopefully everything is fine and the baby is growing!!

ITA with this. there is no way you can have had #s this high from a miscarriage that happened a week ago. you should get to a new doc asap and get a sono done by someone who knows their head from their azz. i really hope everything works out

Well I definitely think BEFORE you schedule a D&C that they would do another sonogram. The numbers are high, however could be coming down at this point. So it's hard to tell and if you were to get a sonogram this week you 'should' see a Heart beat. I lost my second pregnancy at 10weeks. My numbers slowly came down within 2 weeks. It takes a bit for the hormone levels to come down. IT's wonderful you stay positive. It helps! Good luck

That's a really high number for someone miscarrying. I would go see another doctor ASAP and have them do a sonogram to check before I even think about a D&C. Good Luck

I don't know anything about numbers but I do think this office is wrong to not give you hope. They should not even discuss D & C with you at this point.

Thank you for giving us an update! Just wanted to send some and that you have to go through this! Stay positive!! I would def get more opinions before doing anything. And if you see a heartbeat tomorrow ...I would FLIP on the whole office!!!!!!!

I had a simular experience based upon an early sonogram...
According to dates I was 7 weeks + but the doctor barely saw a sac...even after I explained to the doctor that my cycles are always off he told me that the pregnancy wasnt viable and that he'd be shocked if it progressed..my HCG levels were good and my progestrone was horribly low (like 4)..I went back the following week and there still wasnt a heartbeat but we now had a pole..Doctor was still extremely negative and didnt think the pregnancy was viable...it wasnt until the following week that we had a heartbeat!!!! My HCG was still great and my progestrone was still horrible (5)..well that was pretty much a year ago to the day...he's 6 months now (that's him on my avatar)

I agree. They need to repeat the sonogram and repeat the bloodwork ASAP before definitively diagnosing anything!
