40th birthday question

40th birthday, Birthday girl is hosting at her home. Around 45 people. Everyone that is coming are married couples and the bday girls parents
I heard that bday girl has hired a male stripper as the entertainment.

Has anyone ever been to a coed party where there is a male stripper?
Just trying to gage if this is the new trend
Thanks

Re: 40th birthday question

I am very liberal and open minded, and that seems even awkward for me. Lol. The parents, couples seem strange as hell.

Is it really strippers or sexy men without their shirts serving drinks or something?

40th birthday question

Not to hijack this post, but I find it odd when (a) people throw themselves a party and (b) that someone would hire a stripper for their own party.

I would be extremely uncomfortable with it with couples and parents there. But I think its awkward with just women too, not my cup of tea, I guess.

As far as the throwing herself a party I think it’s great. I would love to have a 50th but there is no way my husband would throw me one and that would be a lot to expect from friends. I wish I had the balls to throw myself a party. Instead I will just dread my 50th because it won’t be acknowledged or celebrated in the way that I want it to be.

But on the stripper note, that is cringeworthy and I think it will make a lot of people uncomfortable. I think I’d bow out once the entertainment started.

I planned my entire 50th party at home. I felt odd at first and then thought, why? I want to celebrate and don't ever have parties for myself.
It would never have had a stripper but I am not the stripper type of person either as I am not into that.

OMG - that sounds horrible! Who in their right mind thinks having a stripper at a birthday party is a good idea? At a bachelorette party, OK (even then, it depends on the crowd). But, not a birthday party.

And, I don't think there's anything wrong with throwing yourself a party. It's an excuse for people to get together. I think you should have one!

Re: 40th birthday question

As a woman I'd prefer a female stripper to a male.
Those male strippers are Chat Icon
But I digress.
Yes that is weird. With the mixed crowd, I'd have avoided a stripper of any sex to be honest

Yeah, I think that's very weird. I have been to about 6 40th birthdays in the past few months and nobody did that.

40th birthday question

Throwing herself a party is totally cool. No issue with that at all. Hiring a stripper for that party unless you know that everyone is into that and comfortable with that sort of thing, is really weird.

Right, imagine going to a regular party and a stripper pops out of nowhere.

40th birthday question

I love burlesque shows and have been to plenty clubs/dinner shows with couples since the shows usually have male and female dancers.

Now "strippers" are different but if you know then maybe everyone else does too and its not a surprise. I say if its such a problem then don't go.

Re: 40th birthday question

I have not, BUT i was part of an uber awkward bachelorette party where we eventually ended up at the same strip club (female strippers) as the bachelor party....and the father of the groom and his daughter were there....she was mortified!!!

me and my then bf now dh thought it was hilarious (we were both invited) but we were also both wasted so there's that....Chat Icon
