Do you approve of Obama's Job thus far
Saw a poll last night and I was surprised that 49% of the American people disapprove of Obama's perfomance thus far. Wanted to see how LIF compares. I personally disapprove of his policies he is trying to put forth. But thought since he was so popular, more Americans would approve of his perfomance.

Re: Do you approve of Obama's Job thus far
Well, I'm wondering if people put unrealistic expectations on him, thinking he was going to do an abra cadabra and undo all of the previous mistakes that were made

I think his agenda of "fixing" things is starting to blow people's minds. He is making things worse and America is getting scared.

agree.. no matter who was elected I think they would have had too much expectations put on them. We have a tendance to expect fast results. This is going to take awhile to fully fix.

Re: Do you approve of Obama's Job thus far
I really believe we are a instant gratification culture. He is going to change things and some will hate what he does and how he does it and some will like it or be ok with it.
Big picture here is that no matter who we have in office he will be screwed. This is a no win situation.
There are so many complex issues and for that reason they won't be resolved immediately.
I don't approve of all of the things he is doing but at least he is doing something. I think anyone coming into this job is behind the 8 ball. He probably won't ge re-elected because of the enormity of the problems we have and someone will take the blame.
His approval rating will ebb and flow. That's natural. Right now, people are jobless and struggling. Even the ones that aren't jobless are struggling. That is no indicator of what he is doing or not doing in office because it all can't be fixed immediately. That approval poll doesn't surprise me at all. People are scared.

I agree. The guy has ONLY been in office for a few months. He has a 4 year term. I will decide on his performance after at least a 1 year mark.

Re: Do you approve of Obama's Job thus far
i think he is taking on too much at once. its like lets bang out this policy before its really explored then move on to the next because "the people" expect me to fix everything asap.
Things are going to take YEARS maybe a decade (look at the 80s) to fix. People need to understand that. Not one president is going to make everything work. I just so frustrated that people expect instant gratification all the time in this country. It takes a long time to fix what had taken a short time to really f-up.

Yeah I really feel like people were looking at him as some kind of god - who was going to wave a magic wand and cure the ills of the country overnight....

Just wait till 2010.
The economy will be much worse next year and unemployment will probably flirt with 12%
The foreclosure mess is just getting started

i didn't vote for him, but I think he is doing the best that he can - it has only been 6 months. however, I am extremely worried about his health care proposal - that might make me change my mind.

Re: Do you approve of Obama's Job thus far
Disapprove.
I really don't care what happened before his term began (which he'll use as his never-ending excuse foreverrrr), the choices he has made since he took office are atrocious. That ridiculous "stimulus" package filled to the brim with pork was out and out absurd. He was the main push for that bill to go through. Everything else aside, I just can't believe he even did that - forget trying to approve of his actions. I'm just in shock. I try not to think about it - that helps.
Don't even get me started on healthcare.

I am glad he recognizes the healthcare crisis we are in and is addressing it. It seemed to be swept under the rug the last 8 years.
I don't know if I approve or not of him, its been 6 mos since he walked into the worst of the worst.
I know I can't wait for the day when my 8K hits my bank account I am still in disbelief that it is on its way!!
did it get people out there buying homes? sure did!

Too early to tell, IMO. I think those that didn't like him in the first place will disapprove and those that liked him are giving him time to "do" his jobs, which take time.

How is the government going to make up the $8k they are giving you?
I think a lot of people are starting to ask just how much his plans will costs us all in the end
Even the GAO is starting to question the costs of his policies

ITA. I don't think anyone could have fixed the economy in 6 months and I am not looking for instant gratification. I just am scared of his policies in general.

Re: Do you approve of Obama's Job thus far
news 12 reported that we are a trillion dollars in debt and that will double by september. Largest amount of debt ever.
Too much passed to soon.
I wish someone would just ltake a litle time to see what is going wrong and work to fix it instead of just spending excessively.

Re: Do you approve of Obama's Job thus far
It appears to me that he is not really helping the middle class as he suggested. The 8,000 first time buyer stimulus is not for all there is an income cap. My sister in law missed it by 10,000. She is single and in no way rolling in the dough.
The healthcare plan is confusing. Is he only helping those without healthcare who don't work? What about the elderly who only have medicare and cannot afford to supplement it? Or those who have cancer or other diseases which are very costly to treat, who max out on their insurance. If they worked all their lives and receive a moderate pension they are not eligible, but those who never or barely worked, get assistance. This is wrong!
What are we teaching our young adults? It seems we are telling them that if you work and do somewhat well or do very well, then you will be taxed greatly and are required to help others.
Who is he really helping?
