I guess you don't get the meaning of the quote- no surprise there....
the reason this country was great in the past is b/c people came together in times of war and trouble to make things happen
now everyone is out for themselves - which is how we got where we are today.....
everyone wants the country fixed overnight- but it took at least 25-30 years to get to this point
we are going to need to change our attitudes in order to have lasting change
I understand the quote just fine thank you. Certainly don't need some like you to explain anything to me.
Tell me miss know it all, back then did 40% of Americans pay NOTHING in income tax? Did some of those same 40% then go on to collect a payout from the IRS in the form of feel good crapola like the EIC? Thus making them a double burden on taxpayers?
Did you know that Obama's plan could leave us with a situation in that 60% of Americans pay nothing in taxes? Can you comprehend the implications of a voting public in which 60% are paying for the administration they support?
Want to change an attitue? let's change the one that the government owes you something because we can't afford all these programs.
ummm...why don't you check your attitude while you're at it
she can't... she's perpetually 'annoyed'
and it shows

Oy! I keep getting kicked off.
I just wanted to clarify and correct what I stated earlier.
My brother's private insurance is primary and medicaid is secondary. He also has hospital medicare which I believe is part A.
He is opting to keep and pay for his private insurance but has only gotten Medicaid for the TBI waiver. If his private insurance covered those services he never would need medicaid.
What a freakin nightmare medicaid is. I know this needs fixing but I don't know if we as a country can wait that long.

It's silly to expect anything so soon from him.. The last piece of trash really screwed up everything....
Couldn't have said it better myself.

Well, I'm wondering if people put unrealistic expectations on him, thinking he was going to do an abra cadabra and undo all of the previous mistakes that were made
I think (JMO) people are expecting too much too fast. It's only been 6 mos and I know that my 401K is on the rise again, the advertising arena is growing, unemployment has flatlined (not increasing), healthcare issues are FINALLY being addressed. Not too shabby for 6 mos in office actually, (speaking for myself only, obviously), I don't expect too much, but I do believe that HE is trying to do too much. in 6 months time, he has taken on WAY too many issues. ie: closing Gitmo - and now? he let his own deadline pass (it was today) to come up with a plan.
he has 4 years and is trying to cram every campaign promise into the last 6 months. it's sloppy, unprofessional, and the example I just mentioned leads me to believe that not much will get accomplished with his approach.

Re: Do you approve of Obama's Job thus far
I am disappointed, as someone who did not vote for him I was ready to be proven wrong when he was voted by such a majority. I cant even say he made huge promises because all he promised was change and that he did. My children will be paying for the costs of all his fixes in years to come. He was to socialize health care and tax employers..seems like a good idea..until your employer is no longer giving you raises or paying everyone the same salary because they have to pay for the increased cost of your healthcare. The stimulus plan, which put our economy into worse debt and your tax dollars put to work, bailed out insitutions that were backed by the government to begin with and all it did was bail out government interest. Mortgage backed securities was the dot com stock of our time so they had to fix the mess they created! When the President or Geitner or Bernake speaks Wall Street reacts, and the market goes down. The reality of this administration is that Joe the Plumber is going to be taxed up the wazoo to pay for the large% of people that can collect government checks and forclose on their homes.

Re: Do you approve of Obama's Job thus far
I think we're in trouble and I think that we will meet disaster with thunderous applause. We have become so mired in the gimme gimme that we have become unable to care for ourselves. We have handed over the power to make decisions to people with their own agendas. There is less and less personal responsibility.
Change for change's sake is never a good idea.
To answer the original question, I do not approve of his job so far. I'm not sure anyone else would have done better, however.

Re: Do you approve of Obama's Job thus far
Meh.
The thing i'm confused about it those that are saying that it's too soon to expect him to pick up the pieces. Without getting into a debate over any of his policies, etc... my real concern with the job he's been doing is how HE is the one rushing through these things. I feel like i spent more time researching new sofas than he did for a multi-billion dollar economic reform plan. My issue isn't that he isn't moving fast enough to fix things, but that he's making decisions too fast for things that deserve more deliberation. I agree with the other poster that stated "change for change's sake is never good."

Not even close. I don't think anyone could do any better. For better or worse, the decisions that are made and will be made will ultimately help us more than they hurt us. The status quo is unacceptable.

Re: Do you approve of Obama's Job thus far
I for one think he HAS picked up the pieces- if he did nothing- if that stimulus wasn't passed- then we would be in worse shape.
while the costs of the stimulus plan are staggering, if the government did NOT spend this money- we'd be more towards a depression. Someone or something HAS to spend money for this economy and for this country to keep going- and if it isn't the people ('cause lets face it- who has money now)- the government has to pick up the slack.
Letting all those banks fail- while annoying that they're still taking home big bonuses, would affect us ALL negatively.
Letting all of big auto fail would affect as ALL negatively (although I for one am glad I put my faith in Ford and bought stock when it was $1.40 although everyone laughed at me).
And I don't, for one second, think any other possible president- bush- mccain, whoever wouldn't have done close to the same exact thing re: the stimulus- 'cause without it, it would be an awful picture.

FWIW I approve thus far considering the mess that he inherited.
Nonetheless I think it's important to understand that polling mostly women from Long Island isn't exactly going to give you a good idea of the nation's opinion on the matter.

i did not vote for him either none of what he has done is surprising to me either he has always said exactly what he was going to do - take from the haves to give to the have nots and im sorry - i work too hard - i want to keep my $$
so i cant understand people that didnt see it coming. but, nevertheless, i think people are confused between healthcare reform and nationalized healthcare
is reform needed? yes - healthcare should be more affordable should the government be in charge of healthcare and cover illegal immigrants?? NO
in regards to the stimulus package - how can people say that it helped when MOST of the $$ in the bill isnt even designated to be spent until 2011???
oh, and his statement the other night about his FRIEND, the harvard professor - he started by saying that he wasnt there and doesnt know the facts, BUT the officers acted stupidly Im sorry Mr. President, if you werent there , that is some judgement call!!

Lsst night here was very interesting and eye opening program on FOX news (I think it was fox ) about health care reform, what it means and what would happen if health care is under the government control and after watching that and reading more about it I just hope that it doesn't happen.

Re: Do you approve of Obama's Job thus far
I'm undecided. I don't think it's been long enough to see what he'll really be able to do or not do, pass or not pass, and what the ramifications of those things will be for our nation. So the jury's still out for me.

Right- Fox News is balanced. So they say. They also say they are the most watched. They say a lot of things that make them seem like the best.
None of these news programs are balanced. I guess if you lean a certain way you think your news is balanced.
It's no wonder we are all confused, frustrated and mis-informed.
