5 month old & Swine Flu Question
We were at my IL's last weekend - FIL, MIL, 2 SIL's, and BIL were all there plus one SIL's BF and BIL's GF. Anyhow, all of the IL's live in the same house and my SIL has been diagnosed with Swine Flu today. Now we're supposed to go there on the day after Christmas but I have a feeling that she isn't going to be the only one in the household that gets it. Should we pass on Christmas at their house? WWYD?

Re: 5 month old & Swine Flu Question
I would wait and see. Christmas is still a few weeks away. By then, the germs might be gone.
However, if ANYONE who is going to be there has any symptoms, I would stay home.

I think you really need to play it by ear--Christmas is still a few weeks away, so she'll be better, and no one else may get it. From what I've heard, adults can kick it pretty quickly.

I agree, my niece had it and was over it in 3 days, by the time Christmas gets here it would probably be out of the house.

Re: 5 month old & Swine Flu Question
The virus can infect others for 7-10 Days after symptoms first present. If the IL's have a healthy household for ten straight days you will be fine!
My sister had the swine flu the week before Thanksgiving and her Dr. said "24 Hours after the fever/symptoms are gone you are not contagious" This is NOT true acording to the CDC website.
Anyway, we did not go to T-Day because I believed the CDC and not the Dr. and guess what...now my niece and nephew have the Swine Flu.

Re: 5 month old & Swine Flu Question
I'm pretty sure I had it the week of Thanksgiving. Nobody else in my house, extended family, or friends got sick at all. I was feeling almost completely better in about 5 days. I would wait it out, but I'd say there is a good chance you'll be fine to go by Christmas.
