50's theme 1st bday party menu

What would you make for a 50's inspired menu?

so far

deviled eggs
meatloaf
mashed potatos
sliders maybe?
mac and cheese?
Salad?

Some of the family is very healthy and vegetarian? Any advice?

You should make the individual meatloaves (in muffin tins) with 'mashed potato frosting'

anything they serve at johnny rockets... i think the presentation is going to be more crucial than the actual food?

cover the tables with red and white checker tablecloths and if you can get those individual meal baskets, great!

Music is really the key element...

We had an elvis impersonator come. You could always do that :D

I love your meatloaf and deviled eggs idea. I think you should def. do sliders.

in the 50's fruit was really big, especially pineapple. maybe you can do a fruit salad side. or like fruit kabobs- fruit on a stick.

also maybe you can do cooked carrots in honey and butter.

Or a mushroom soup/string bean casserole maybe.

First thought - Chicken-ala-king.

I'd get separate plates - like old school tv dinner plate.

i think green bean casserole was first introduced in the 50's and became big, so maybe that?
