Yeah, and I don't think that's the first time that's happened. Did you see last week when she left her by herself in the sink and she turned on the hot water?Chat Icon

Yea, but I like maci... she has her shiit together.

When they show amber and gary I have to change the channel. The fighting just makes me cringe.

I like her too, that's why I was surprised she did that.

Amber and Geery are horrendous and I really feel bad for their baby having to be around all of that negativity Chat Icon I think they are just immature still..

OK, let me preface this by saying that I haven't watched the episode, but I saw some other comments on the Celebrity board and I gather that Sophia fell off the bed.

I just want to point out that ANY time a mom on this site posts about how their child fell off a bed or a changing table, EVERYONE replies with kind words about how "accidents happen" and that "it will be OK" and "don't be so hard on yourself".

Was Farrah upset that her DD fell off the bed? If so, why doesn't she get the same sympathy that it seems every other mom on this site gets who has something similar happen to them?

This is really just a general question and there may be more to it because I haven't seen the episode. It's just something that I was wondering.

I won't lie, my DD fell off the bed 2x when she was 11 months. I was right next to her folding laundry one of the times, the other I was bending over to put my shoes on. It happens and since Farrah was dealing with being scammed out of $3,000 at the time it happened, I can understand.

The hot water in the sink last week, now that was a HUGE no no!!! Chat Icon

You have a point, but this was different for me. I actually SAW her actions... didn't just see someone write about it on a message board, how horrible they feel, how they only turned around for a second, etc etc.

Sophia already tried to roll off the bed while she was on the phone and she said she needed to stay on the bed (she's 1 year 3 months old - she doesn't understand). Obviously she knew how easily she could fall off... but she walked away into another room while on the phone a few seconds later and then heard the thump.

Ok, yes other moms have had this happen to them, but they're not on tv showing how negligent they are on a regular basis. Every episode, it's another thing that this poor baby is having happen to herChat Icon

I was just about to post this! Everyone is way too hard on these teenagers! They are all uneducated, come from horrible families, and have no money. I think they are doing the best they can given the circumstances. I certainly don't think I could have done much better at their age.

Re: omg who is watching teen mom???

I may be singled out here but I feel bad for Farrah and of course Sophia. Not only does this girl not have a spuse/bf in the situation but her family is completely wacko and offer her only stress.

She was dealing with a major situation and I'm sure she wasn't thinking straight. You could see her face when she heard the thump. Last week my DD fell off the bay while I was folding laundry...accidents happen.
I actually cried for her during that episode because I can only imagine what its like to care for yourself, a baby, put yourself through school, pay rent and any other bills, do it by yourself and do it while being a teen.

Does anybody realize its a filmed television show and while Sophia is in the hallway shes there with camera crew who for the most part have been alongside SOphia since her mother was pregnant...Of course it looks like Farrah just left a poor baby all alone but come on now remember your watching a show where theres more people in the room then just Farrah.

I feel badly for Sophia and for Farrah...all around crappy situation...although Farrah is not the perfect mom, she is trying really hard, especially at that age.

Gary and Amber...Ugh, I feel horrible that Leah has to hear them arguing like that, constantly fighting, swearing, physical fights Chat Icon It's like the cycle will repeat itself. Chat Icon

Re: omg who is watching teen mom???

I also feel bad for farrah and sophia... I understand it must be extremely difficult for farrah being on her own with a baby and a messed up family situation. I just felt horrible for little sophia last night. Chat Icon A few minutes before, farrah JUST caught her from falling off the bed and then just walks away and leaves her there.

As for the camera crew, i'm sure they are told they can not interfere. Farrah shouldn't (and obviously can't) rely on them to watch sophia...

Re: omg who is watching teen mom???

The more I think about this, I am starting to feel nothing but anger towards MTV.

Here they are exploiting these teen mothers for ratings at the expense of their children's safety. How, in good conscious, can these camera crews and other employees of the show just stand around and watch as this baby is put into dangerous situations. Granted, they are things that happen every day, but it's not every day that you have lots of other people standing around watching it happen. Could you honestly just watch as a child is about to fall off a bed? Or watch as a baby in the sink is starting to turn hot water on? I am just baffled at how the people working on the show can literally just stand there and watch, record it for a TV show and not step in to prevent this child from being potentially harmed.

What kind of support are these girls getting from MTV besides a paycheck? Are they providing them with parenting classes (for Farrah) or anger management classes (for Amber)? I understand that these girls don't have to do the show, that they are making money from it, but they probably feel as though they have no choice because it is helping them support their family.

I guess I am just taken back a little by the harsh comments towards Farrah. She is a child who had a baby. She comes from an absolutely insane mother. She needs help and millions of people are just watching her make mistakes week after week, making very harsh comments about her. I don't think it's too far from the truth to say that many moms on this site have made some of the same mistakes and received sympathy and virtual hugs after it. I think she may be missing a little bit of common sense, but if I was a teenager dealing with supporting myself, a baby, bills, and a crazy family, I would probably be royally screwing up too.

I would like to see more outrage at MTV for just sitting back and watching these things happen.

Re: omg who is watching teen mom???

I'm addicted to the show but half of what I see bothers me a lot! These teens have no family support or husband support and talk to their babies like they are the same age as them. Maci not as much. Farrah left Sophia in a room on the floor crying and walked out saying I'm going to ignore your crying and closed the door! She was 1! All she gets out of that is that she was abandoned and doesn't know what she did wrong. That scene made me so sick. Then of course the sink episode!

ITA-This isnt national geographic with nature taking its course. Its human beings-yes its reality but at what point do you put down the camera and intervine.

As for the girls-I truely hope that as MTV exploits them and makes millions, I hope they are offering at the very least support and fair compensation to help them out of being another statistic like they started out to be.

Farrah may be a child..but she chose to have a child. She chose to raise her and she chose to move out on her own. Maybe her family is crazy, but there are other services out there to help her.
I'm not saying accidents don't happen, but she did catch the baby before she fell, then walk out of the room leaving her on the bed. Then she goes out in the pouring rain, brings nothing to cover the baby and no diapers. She borrows towels from a car wash Chat Icon and fashions them into a diaper.
I feel bad she got scammed and I know what it feels like when you feel like everything in you life is going wrong.
But, you have a child. It's time to grow up and do what you have to do. Sophia should be her #1 priority.
It angers me because I've known too many people personally who have children too young and they don't take it seriously. She needs to be careful, people are seeing this show and forming opinions about her.
This show just angers me. It glamorizes being a teen mom. And the camera men (if they were in the room) should have helped Sophia!!
I was watching 18 kids and counting and the cameramen help them ALL THE TIME!!! A child is in danger..you help.

I didn't get to that part last night, but my heart really aches for that poor girl (Farrah). I feel like she struggles internally more than the other girls, without any real support system in place. Her mom is a whackjob, the father of her child is nowhere to be found, and she's living all by herself with her baby. We all make mistakes, particularly when we are overwhelmed...

Re: omg who is watching teen mom???

On a side note, I was on a reality type show on tlc and they take so much footage and edit a lot out to fit in a one hour show with commercials and give the best story line ans drama do people have opinions like these and want to keep watching to see what will happen next. I know this stuff happened but it might not be in the context it appears on the show.
