Re: omg who is watching teen mom???
Kinda harsh, but ok nobody is perfect. You're right. We all make mistakes... but Farrah is on national television. I didn't comment on anything else except her DD falling off the bed. I felt horrible for both of them.
bottom line - i blame her parents. Farrah was a minor so someone had to legally OK her partaking in this show. Her parents had to sign and give their OK. If she was MY child, I would NEVER even entertain the idea of letting her be exposed and exploited like that She is a child, she will make mistakes, why publicize it for the entire world to see. Her parents are whack jobs and the need their heads examined. The apple doesn't fall far, unfortunately.

YES, her DD did almost fall off the bed once, but Farrah was also dealing with something serious. Her account was negative 2600. The check she depostied for 8k bounced. She is a single mom, living on her own. No help from her parents. If I was a single mom whose account was NEGATIVE 2600 and had ZERO dollars to my name, I probably would of forgotten DC on the bed too. Her mind was probably spinning in a million directions. FArrah is also still a CHILD herself.
I haven't been in that situation or had to deal with any of that at her age so I can't say for sure, but I can't imagine I would have done the same thing. No matter what was going on. DD is always first on my mind no matter what i'm thinking, feeling, doing. I'm just glad sophia was ok!

My mother taught me to NEVER say never. ALL of our kids are always on our mind, but accidents do happen especially when there is a crisis going on.

I am totally addicted to that show!! Seriously though, someone should smack Farrah's dumb a$$. She is such a flippin' disaster and beyond immature and stupid. Grow up and stop treating your parents like garbage............they are all she has and it's abundantly clear she's not making it on her own financially or emotionally. Nobody can do this all on their own.........especially at that age. Every time I watch her I want to smack the TV. First she lets the baby cry hysterically on the floor in the dark, then she leaves her outside the apt. while she starts unpacking, and now she lets her fall off the bed. Good lord!

As much as she is a brat at times, you wanna blame her parents too...I mean, her mom hit her in the face --did you see those pics? And when the police came she was holding out a knife! TBH, Farrah is not that bad considering how crazy her parents are...yeah she could be doing a lot better, but its pretty good that at that age, she's working, going to school and trying her best to provide for Sophia...after tragically losing Sophia's father!

Wow! Anyone who think that show glamorizes being a teen mom is not watching it carefully enough! There is nothing glamorous about anything I have watched and I have seen every episode!

Ok
Yes mistakes happen. May have happened to you. You're okay. Your parents are okay. Your kids are okay. MTV sucks.
But difference between you and her is that she is on TV. For the world to see. People are going to talk about it and have opinions.

Posted by Deeluvsvinny Then she goes out in the pouring rain, brings nothing to cover the baby and no diapers. She borrows towels from a car wash and fashions them into a diaper.
I wouldn't use these as examples of bad parenting. I can't tell you how many times I have ran out of the house forgetting one thing or another. I've forgotten diapers...formula...jackets or blankets on cold days. Just this past sunday we had a birthday party in the park to go to. It was time to feed Xavier and realized I forgot a bottle. Luckily I was 5 minutes from home so I ran and got one but it happens to me often
right, but instead of pulling into the detail place, go buy diapers FIRST. That is the right thing to do. That is where her "bad parenting" decision came in. I have forgotten things also but then you go get them - you dont stuff an entire roll of toilet paper down your kids pants and sit around waiting for your car to be detailed
EXACTLY!

I think we all have made mistakes at one time or another, and maybe it seems that Farrah is making a lot of them, but she is a teen on her own for the first time and sadly these things happen (although I was screaming at the TV last night when she walked out of the room and left Sophia on the bed after she had already almost fallen off the bed while Farrah was sitting next to her).
What disurbs me most is the fact that MTV sits and watches as the baby falls off the bed. I know they are probably not supposed to intervene as this is a "reality show" but when the health of the baby is at risk, they need to step in IMO. To sit by and tape these things happening for ratings instead of preventing them from happening is disgusting.

It's just constant negligence and something is going to happen to this poor baby. Also, left her in a sinkfull of water and left the room.
Does anybody realize its a filmed television show and while Sophia is in the hallway shes there with camera crew who for the most part have been alongside SOphia since her mother was pregnant...Of course it looks like Farrah just left a poor baby all alone but come on now remember your watching a show where theres more people in the room then just Farrah.
Doesn't really matter to me who else is in the room if they are not the ones responsible for the child. As in, I'm not going to leave my child alone at a party because other people I know are "Around". Do you feel the same way with the sink? The baby could've seriously gotten burned.

The more I think about this, I am starting to feel nothing but anger towards MTV.
Here they are exploiting these teen mothers for ratings at the expense of their children's safety. How, in good conscious, can these camera crews and other employees of the show just stand around and watch as this baby is put into dangerous situations. Granted, they are things that happen every day, but it's not every day that you have lots of other people standing around watching it happen. Could you honestly just watch as a child is about to fall off a bed? Or watch as a baby in the sink is starting to turn hot water on? I am just baffled at how the people working on the show can literally just stand there and watch, record it for a TV show and not step in to prevent this child from being potentially harmed.
What kind of support are these girls getting from MTV besides a paycheck? Are they providing them with parenting classes (for Farrah) or anger management classes (for Amber)? I understand that these girls don't have to do the show, that they are making money from it, but they probably feel as though they have no choice because it is helping them support their family.
I would like to see more outrage at MTV for just sitting back and watching these things happen.
Well said.

IMO some people need to get off their parenting high horse and realize first off your watching MTV...real brain stimulator there! 2nd these girls given there age are doing a pretty good job IMO, the children are always put first, not neglected, fed, bathed, dressed and most importantly loved. Im sure there are a million mistakes you've done in your time of parenting and if not YOU WILL, everyone does. Just because these moms arent sitting there shoving probiotics down there throats or wrapping them in bubble wrap doesnt mean they are bad moms. You are watching a TV show and where editing is the number one priority to keep the show interesting to people like you....Lighten up ladies not everyone can be the June Cleaver that you all are striving to be.
You're right...you don't judge...

But I also agree, it's sending a very clear message to young girls. Hopefully.
We've all made mistakes and looking at things in isolation is not what we're talking about here. These girls have it hard and they may be doing the best they can or best they know how to but you are ignorant to thing these innocent babies aren't going to be dealing with the consequences of the lack of proper care and support.

Hmm couldve sworn there that I was stating how everyone parents differently and how we shouldnt assume someones parenting skills are bad based on a television show...Cause well as the saying goes you do know what happens when you assume....

Re: omg who is watching teen mom???
Those who say MTV is at fault, I'm actually kind of glad they show this stuff.
1 - it raises awareness. There are other teen moms watch and they may not realize what can happen when they do these things.
2 - if MTV stepped in to do anything, it wouldn't be showing the reality of these situations.
It's superhard to be a single mom. Let alone a teenage single mom.
I think these girls are in a HUGE learning curve and they mostly try to keep it together.
We've ALL done something as parents that we didn't think was so bad at the time and then OOPS.
I think they are doing a pretty good job at portraying what it must be like to be a teen mom.
And I actually really dig the Bristol Palin commerical they always run during it.
