Those who say MTV is at fault, I'm actually kind of glad they show this stuff.
1 - it raises awareness. There are other teen moms watch and they may not realize what can happen when they do these things.
2 - if MTV stepped in to do anything, it wouldn't be showing the reality of these situations.
It's superhard to be a single mom. Let alone a teenage single mom.
I think these girls are in a HUGE learning curve and they mostly try to keep it together.
We've ALL done something as parents that we didn't think was so bad at the time and then OOPS.
I think they are doing a pretty good job at portraying what it must be like to be a teen mom.
And I actually really dig the Bristol Palin commerical they always run during it.

poor sophia. How could she leave her on the bed alone like that?
I want to go scoop up DD from her crib and hug and kiss her.
OK, let me preface this by saying that I haven't watched the episode, but I saw some other comments on the Celebrity board and I gather that Sophia fell off the bed.
I just want to point out that ANY time a mom on this site posts about how their child fell off a bed or a changing table, EVERYONE replies with kind words about how "accidents happen" and that "it will be OK" and "don't be so hard on yourself".
Was Farrah upset that her DD fell off the bed? If so, why doesn't she get the same sympathy that it seems every other mom on this site gets who has something similar happen to them?
This is really just a general question and there may be more to it because I haven't seen the episode. It's just something that I was wondering.
I think you need to see the show to fully undersatnd. Previous eposide she is moving into a new apt and leaves the baby in the infant carriee in the HLLWAY! Allsows the door to close behing her when she enters the apt and starts unpacking some stuff.
It's just constant negligence and something is going to happen to this poor baby. Also, left her in a sinkfull of water and left the room.
Does anybody realize its a filmed television show and while Sophia is in the hallway shes there with camera crew who for the most part have been alongside SOphia since her mother was pregnant...Of course it looks like Farrah just left a poor baby all alone but come on now remember your watching a show where theres more people in the room then just Farrah.
I'm wondering if any of the staff saw the baby about to fall off the bed they could have prevented that from happening

IMO some people need to get off their parenting high horse and realize first off your watching MTV...real brain stimulator there! 2nd these girls given there age are doing a pretty good job IMO, the children are always put first, not neglected, fed, bathed, dressed and most importantly loved. Im sure there are a million mistakes you've done in your time of parenting and if not YOU WILL, everyone does. Just because these moms arent sitting there shoving probiotics down there throats or wrapping them in bubble wrap doesnt mean they are bad moms. You are watching a TV show and where editing is the number one priority to keep the show interesting to people like you....Lighten up ladies not everyone can be the June Cleaver that you all are striving to be.
WOW! pretty harsh...feeling threatened at all
As far as the show-I don't watch regularly-though I do agree that when a child is in danger, crew should step in.

Re: omg who is watching teen mom???
whether its right or wrong, MTV makes it a point NOT to intervene - AKA, reality TV.
On the Real World a few years back, Ruthie was drinking heavilty and picked up her keys to leave. They ALMOST let her go - but they stopped her. Obviously drunk driving and risking death and falling off a bed arent the same. Just a thought.

Definitely not at all....I know what kind of parent I am, and I also know what kind of human being I am which is why I dont feel the need to bash a struggling teenage girl.

Re: omg who is watching teen mom???
OMG...guess you need to call the authorities on me. Right now my 14 month old has a bruise on her forehead from falling off the couch two days ago. Last year when she was 3 months old DH took her to his parents and completely forgot the diaper bag and put a size 5 diaper on her that was the size of her body. God forbid it rained while he was out with her, the cops may have pulled him over on the spot.
Unfortunately for Farrah she is being pulled apart and criticized for every little thing that happens. If MTV followed me around I guess you would all have a field day!

I was referring to this:
Just because these moms arent sitting there shoving probiotics down there throats or wrapping them in bubble wrap doesnt mean they are bad moms.
And this:
Lighten up ladies not everyone can be the June Cleaver that you all are striving to be
You're bashing people who give probiotics? or want to protect their kids? And why, if you do these things would you be June Cleaver?

Re: omg who is watching teen mom???
can I just say, that my mom's best revenge was using my "father's tshirts as diapers when we ran out and she didnt' have any money for more
he was a real "winner" and treated her horribly. so for her, it was a small but victory.
anyway, this thread needs some levity.
I disagree with MTV not stepping in for "Reality" b/c I can say that if anyone else was in the room with the child without cameras there, they would have helped the child. and that makes me sad. more than likely it is a liability issue.
and a baby falling head first off a bed COULD result in serious damage to the child. I would hate to see that.

Re: omg who is watching teen mom???
And a child falling off a bed happens in a split second and happens a million times a day all over the world so I don't think it is considered a highly dangerous situation.

Re: omg who is watching teen mom???
Where was the bashing part?? It refers to some moms do this and others do not...which makes neither a bad parent...maybe your having a hard time understanding my point. I have nothing to say about mothers who take a green approach to parenting nor do I have anything to say about mothers who take a more relaxed approach. I said do not judge because you do things differently...the baby is loved and cared for and thats what matters more than a mere falling off the bed accident.

Re: omg who is watching teen mom???
I feel bad for farrah. I really do. She has been through A LOT and parenting is not easy. I cant imagine doing it myself, let alone trying that as a teenager.
With that being said: those that are defending her saying we all make mistakes and that we've all seen posts about kids falling off the bed. If this was something that has happened to poor sophia only once, I would think it was a mistake and that she has learned her lesson. Like for example if that happened to Maci and Bentley. BUT last episode sophia burned herself, the episode before that sophia was left in the hallway of her apartment while she unpacked things. Whats going to happen next episode? When is she going to learn? Its one thing to make a mistake especially when she is under a lot of stress with the money issue but my guess is that she would have done the same thing if it were just a friend on the phone. I hope she learns that the way she just leaves sophia is not ok and that something really bad can happen. and I hope she learns that SOON before something really bad does happen

I gues I'm having a hard time understanding your point because you're backpedaling Please tell me honestly that "shoving" something down a babies throat or "wrapping a baby in bubble wrap" are positive terms and then I can understand. Its ok...I'm done anyway. Useless to argue

It would be one thing if Farrah was watching Days of Our Lives and didn't want to interrupt soap time to watch Sofia on the bed...but she was on the phone dealing with a scam that outed her $3000, highly distracting situation.

Ummm no I'm ending my attempt at questioning because you are trying to deny what you said when it is right there in black and white. I am not concerned with getting banned because I am doing nothing that is against the "rules."
If you want to make yourself look foolish by writing something clearly meant to incite drama and then try to deny it thats your perogative. I am ending the discussion because I do not like dealing with people like that.

I may be singled out here but I feel bad for Farrah and of course Sophia. Not only does this girl not have a spuse/bf in the situation but her family is completely wacko and offer her only stress.
She was dealing with a major situation and I'm sure she wasn't thinking straight. You could see her face when she heard the thump. Last week my DD fell off the bay while I was folding laundry...accidents happen. I actually cried for her during that episode because I can only imagine what its like to care for yourself, a baby, put yourself through school, pay rent and any other bills, do it by yourself and do it while being a teen.
I am so with you! I really didn't like her too much , but last weeks episode explained a lot. Now I truly feel for her.

Re: omg who is watching teen mom???
Honestly, I'm not shocked that Farah left Sofia on the bed and she fell off. I felt terrible but people make mistakes.
On another note, my heart goes out to Farah and Sofia and I am routing for Farah. Even though she is young, inexperienced and naive my heart goes out to her and I really give her a lot of credit.
She was not dealt the best deck and is doing pretty good given her situation. Her love for Sofia isso evident and she is really trying to make a good life for her and her daughter. Farah openly admits that she has screwed up and makes bad decisions but she is learning from them. I really hope she gets on her feet and overcomes her hardships! IMO I don't see anything wrong with the show either. I think that it opens up peoples eyes to the hardships of being a teen mom and if it is a way for Farrah to make some money for her family why not. I do hope MTV provides the girls with some kind of training and therapy though. JMO!

Re: omg who is watching teen mom???
In the beginnning I couldn't stand Farrah. These past few weeks, I am feeling sorry for her and Sophia after seeing what her mom is like! My heart sank when she was told the $3000 was a scam. I also get nervous though too! One episode Sophia was left out in the hall while she brought stuff into apt. Last week, she was in the kitchen sink, alone, and touched the hot water while Farrah was in the other room Then, last night with the bed.
She has to learn NOW before something even more serious happens!

Re: omg who is watching teen mom???
the girl is not prepared to take care of her child properly. Her family are loons she needs to realize she needs to be unselfish and put the baby up for adoption. There are plenty of stable families out there that can handle a child correctly unlike this child.
yea people make mistakes but based on character of what is shown on tv farrah she can't handle motherhood.

ummmm think this is a liiiiitttttle bit overboard. She does not need to put her child up for adoption, she needs guidence and normal, stable role models. She needs people she can look up to. She needs family that can be there for her.
