Can someone explain to me
why a person would ask for used items? what in the world can you do with that kind of stuff?
I mean it was down to underwear and socks!
I have to believe that it was a scam but I really am lost  what am I missing?

Yeah I have no clue either...It's not like he was whining that he didn't have $ for an Xbox or something...it was basics.

That whole thing was just so weird.

Ron from CS got some new info on Boheemian, saying that he had some kind of "athetist pastafarian" blog, worked in IT...and it just didn't add up I guess.
ETA: Then his wife started posting and was basically giving out every last detail of their life

Sherry did FM me with her phone number as well in case I wanted to call and verify.
Im going to send the coat anyway. Im not using it, its sitting in the closet, DS cant use it bc he is too big for it. Maybe they are scammers, but it didnt cost me anything and if they arent and he is truly a professional who just fell on hard times, I would hate for a little boy to go without a coat in the winter. Im going to send it on good faith that there is truly a cold little boy who needs a coat.
As for him having an atheist blog, that may be, but thats neither here nor there and anyones personal beliefs have no bearing on whether they need a coat to keep warm.
I would rather send it and risk being wrong than not, and a little boy goes cold.

That was weird.
The sock thing was odd. They wanted socks with room for 7 toes and Alf on them but Alf from the first season not the last season and they had to be 800 thread count.

I think thats great of you to do, like you said it's no skin off your back. I didn't have anything to offer, so I would have had to spend $ on things, and I would be   if someone took advantage.

Yeah, I don't think that had anything to do with being hard up for things. It seemed like a way to discredit Boheemian.

Do you think they were embarrassed after posting? I am really curious to know what CS found out. What I see is nothing to be alarmed about. A FB page, maybe a good job (but really that means nothing if you are on hard times), that blog which is just another forum place and his name.... something is weird.

the thing that struck me weird was that none of them had any winter clothes....did they just move? the previous post says he bought his house in 6/09 that means that they have been here for over a year...and had to go through a NY winter no?
I was on a scrapbooking Yahoo group many years ago and some woman had a similar story, that she fell on hard times and she was just looking for clothes for her kids...people sent her stuff then found out that she was selling the stuff on eBay. I'm not saying that this is the case here but there are all sorts of scammers out there.

its doesnt strike me as weird at all for the children as every single season, my DS is in a different size and in no way could fit into his previous seasons clothes.

I guess, but a lot of people celebrate Christmas as just a secular holiday....not that I agree with that, but it does happen. My ILs arent ANY religion, dont believe in God, dont go to Church and celebrate Christmas.

yes I understand that but dont you think that buying clothes for your children takes priority.....go each week and buy one coat...Walmart had great winter coats for $14....

That is true...he did say something about Christmas not looking too good this year, I think? Although some atheists do celebrate Christmas I suppose.
I missed where he asked for socks and underwear though...as much as I read the boards, I still manage to miss things!
