Re: 10/26 Update on Max
Your update made me cry Especially the part about sleeping in the same bed, and him throwing his hair. You truly sound like you have an amazing son and family.
You are all in my prayers

So glad to hear he is kicking butt with this!!! Many prayers for him.
Is there anything we can do for you to help out. Maybe something to help out with medical cost, food, even to donate money so you can stay home longer?

This is so very sweet of you and all of you who have offered. We are very lucky to have good jobs and pretty decent insurance (although we have only received the ER bill and statements of what we "might" owe - it's not too bad). We are also lucky that my parents have offered to help us out with any bills whether we can afford them or not.
As for staying home longer, I'm torn. We were going to pick up my insurance as a back-up, so I would need to go back for that, but being that I can only get it started 1/1 and he could very well be done with all of this at the end of January, I might just take the cash back to put towards the bills.
But I think it will be good for me to go back. My coworkers are awesome (they bought him an ipad!) and I think it will be good for me to get out. We are lucky that DH has the flexibility to work from home and be the caregiver (He's better with all things dealing with his mediport/broviak and giving the shots (to increase white blood cells))
One way people can help is donating blood. We haven't needed any yet, but there are so many kids that do. And you can get on the bone marrow transplant list with just a swab of your mouth (when I did it in 1994 they actually drew blood). We are hopeful that we won't need a bone marrow transplant, but for the kids that do, it is life saving.
We cannot accept food, b/c of the entrance of different germs/bacteria into the house. Hopefully it will help my waistline, since we cannot get fastfood either.
I have always run for my own pleasure and gratification, but now I see I have a bigger purpose. I plan on running the Georgia marathon in March for Team in Training. Team in Training is the charity for Leukemia and Lymphoma (childhood cancers), so if you see anyone running for Team in Training, support them how you can. I am so grateful that researchers were able to come up with this protocol in 2004 that is saving my son's life, I can only hope that research can find even more breakthroughs. Burkitts Lymphoma is so aggressive that children in the past were not as lucky.
Thanks for all the positive thoughts...they are well received!

back to LIJ today for the week for next round of chemo. I can't believe that we are possibly 40% through this! and in 10 days, we are 50% through this! Hoping for few side effects again!
that Max tolerates and responds excellent to the meds.
