glad they video taped it all so they could document their behavior for the police 
ETA: Even if he almost hit someone or hit someone...you get the plate & call the cops and write a statement for police..you don't start driving like maniacs..stop traffic on a highway by surrounding the car creating a major danger or start beating on the car.

i agree there has to be more to it. i dont think either party was right. I cant see what happened when stopped but i am confused why the car hit the motorcylist to begin with

this is CRAZY wtf do you expect the driver to do but flee when you act like animals?!?! annual ride or not, the roads don't belong to them and they FORCED that driver to tap their bumper by brake checking him. this is absolutely insane and I am horrified for the wife and child in that car. If i had my baby in the car you're damn straight i'd run you over if you try to attack me or my vehicle or open the door to my car. I can't believe over 6 minutes length wasn't enough for anyone else to intervene...911 should have been called immediately by the wife while he was trying to escape

I read that this started because the driver of the SUV was calling 911 to report the bikers were driving at high speeds and erratically. This wasn't a charity bike run but just thugs thinking they own the road and acting like animals. I would've ran them all over if I feared for the safety of my family. There was a child in the car and they beat the dad in front of the wife and kid. Disgusting animals!

Disgusting animals.  That poor child. It says in the article that the bikers are claiming the Rover hit and killed a biker prior to this chase and beating however that charge is false. I'm not sure why the police were not called more quickly by the wife or the driver. 
ETA: Just saw comments above. Why didn't the cops come faster?

They boxed him in (around the 45 second mark). WTH did they expect him to do? Sorry but If a pack of animals surrounded my car, I would run them over too to get the hell away from them. Don't intimated people and surround them. You don't know what they're capable of when they feel threatened

There's def more to this story. Why was THIS truck singled out by the bikers? Makes me think maybe the guy in the SUV said something or made a gesture towards them which started the whole chain reaction... Although the bikers were highly uncivilized so I guess they could've just been morons and wanted to have a little fun 
It's really sad bc it's idiots like this that give bikers a bad rap...my husband rides a sport bike and def rides sensibly. I don't want to jump to conclusions bc I always try to back up the bikers, but in this instance, they were horribly wrong in going after this guy for as long and as hard as they did.

I've been in a situation where a big gang of bikers on speed by me while driving on the highway, weaving in and out of traffic. They have absolutely no regard for traffic or other cards on the road. It's terrifying!

My DH said the same thing, he said he would have driven over them without a second thought about them if his family were in the car.

I saw this on the news tonight. From that tape it looked like the biker intentionally stopped short and the SUV hit him. From the tape it looked like no one was in front of the biker and he had a completely clear path but stopped. Then the SUV hit him. The news reported that the biker had his leg broken. From there it appears the group of bikers surrounded the SUV and slashed his tires. The SUV was surrounded at that point and frankly, I think anyone in the same situation would want to get the heck out of dodge and he ran over some bikes/bikers to get away. The news said that the bikers chased the SUV for over six miles into Manhattan and caught up with him in midtown traffic. The bikers then appear to try to open the drivers door and he leaves again. They caught up again and used their helmet to smash in the driver's window and eventually dragged the driver from the door causing him injury. From what was on the tape I think the bikers (all of them) need to be charged with anything and everything they can be charged with. They were crazy.
ETA: Where are all of the license plates for the bikers?

On that note .. Someone is gonna flame me .. But I mean this with no disrespect. I had a biker in my family and my friend rides too. On LI, those "watch for motorcycles" signs annoy the shit out of me. Because most times, people on motorcycles seem to feel entitled. Unless I'm not informed - but if I am, correct me. .. But yesterday I was on 347. Two lanes. Some biker cut in front of me from the right. Like he was behind me and came up on my right and sharply cut in front of me.
Is that legal?
I also hate the times you're in traffic and moving slowly up or maybe even want to change lanes, and up comes a motorcycle riding between the left and right lines in the middle. Is that legal?
I ask seriously.
It's always the motorcycles that are the Kawasaki ones. It's rarely the old school biker - those seem to obey the rules.
And then those signs... Watch for bikers. No shit. But maybe they need to cut the crap out.

Exactly my point! That's why those signs always got me angry. I'm quite cautious when driving. But I dread summer on LI because of crazy bikers. Unless my complaints are wrong - just texted my biker friend of the laws. Plus it's so ******* dangerous. For the biker and the cars. If a biker flew into your windshield, you are likely just as dead.
