SO this is ok......IMAGE
This was the guy that the RR driver ran over. This guy is in a medically induced coma and might not walk again.
and why was he run over....because the RR wanted to get by the bikers and didn't want to get in the left lane that was open and every other car was passing them by in.
Please. This driver of the RR is not innocent by any means and so far the media has only shown one side.
I am still not condoning the riders actions by beating him in front of his family but I am sorry....if you run over one of my friends I am probably going to chase you down and get you to stop so the cops can arrest you.
You SHOULD EXPECT to get run over by a truck if you box that truck in, slash the truck's tires and try to open that truck's door...IMO these bullying idiots should have expected nothing less when using terror tactics.

I'm sure a few vigilantes will see a guy on a rice burner and beat the crap out of them.
Interesting you say that. I was actually thinking this man driving the range rover was a modern day Bernard Goetz in regards to the way these animals terrorize drivers on the road (according to this story and the videos we have now all seen, as well as multiple statements on here as well from people who have experienced being on the road with them).

I don't understand why there were no state troopers around for FOUR MILES. This video makes me sick because I've seen these, or others like them, do the same thing. ATVs are not licensed for road use, so that's ticketable right there. The ones I've seen also bend up their license plates so the cops can't read them. These are hoodlums, gangs looking for a bit of fun and didn't think they would get caught. They think they're above the law and they are disgusting TRASH. If I were them I'd stay off the roads, I'm sure a few vigilantes will see a guy on a rice burner and beat the crap out of them.
I wouldn't start blaming law enforcement for not being right there. NYC is a big city and they can't be everywhere all the time. Not to mention, I don't think four miles is all that far away.
I think the bigger problem was that they kept moving so if the cops were out looking for them they were playing catch up, ya know?

I truly hope that doesn't happen, that would be just as wrong as what these idiots did.

I don't see him as Bernie Goetz at all. I see a man simply trying to protect his family.

People are applauding this man driving the RR for running them over to free himself and his family. People applauded Bernie Goetz for shooting the criminals to protect himself from muggers. Two things OTHERS might want to do to protect themselves from muggers or other terrorizing types, but most of the time DON"T do when faced with someone trying to harm them.

Do State Troopers even patrol or have any jurisdiction in NYC? I don't think so.

Re: So crazy- biker gang chase in NYC
Someone posted this on newsday.com that the motorcyclist did not even have a license.
"Though Mieses is a Massachusetts resident, he has never had a valid Massachusetts driver’s license for a passenger vehicle and has never applied for a motorcycle license, the Registry of Motor Vehicles said. Registry records show that Mieses applied for a learner’s permit in 1999 and 2000, but that he never obtained a full license because he failed to pay fines imposed after he was ticketed for speeding in Lawrence in 1999. ... Since 1999, he has been ticketed by police 16 times .... In June, the Registry notified the National Driver Register that Mieses was a habitual traffic offender whose right to drive in Massachusetts was revoked until 2017, records show."

Habitual traffic offenders KILL people, and should be put behind bars at a certain point and kept away from society.
Someone with no respect for traffic rules, license requirements, and the like and who baits, traps and harasses others on the road at will is a TERRORIST no less lethal than any other.
Can you tell I am disgusted?

Criminals who want to take innocent people and harrass them, intimidate them, and possibly harm them, that's a terrorist alright.

I blame law enforcement for knowing that this kind of stuff goes on and not undertaking any initiatives that we know of.
"...that we know of" is key to that statement. They can only do so much, as these bikers have the advantage to outrun officers in Manhattan. A cop car can't fit between two taxis, but a bike can easily go between or hop up on a sidewalk, and these guys do it. NYPD isn't allowed to give chase, because if they chase and the biker gets into an accident and is injured, killed, or hurts someone else, the NYPD gets the blame and the city gets sued. But they do get caught, they do get ticketed, and they do get released back out on the streets because that's just the way the justice system works. The cops do what they can, but it's much easier to sit behind a computer and judge what you don't see.
As for why it took so long to get there--the video spans what, 6 minutes? The guy had to call 911, get his message and location to the dispatcher, who has to get in touch with police, who are presumably already busy in that area, who then have to find him. Yeah, that can take a few minutes.

Just saw on the news, some councilman is suggesting law enforcement be proactive and go to the biker meetings they hold. I think that's a good idea if there isnt much else they can do.

There's a lot that would be great to see. It sounds like this kind of stuff goes on a lot on the weekends. I have seen it. There are cameras everywhere. When people report the behavior, more regular arrests would be great. An publicized initiative whereby cameras are checked and people doing this stuff are found and brought in more often, would be wonderful.
I know many people who have called 911 because they felt afraid/threatened. A publicized initiative where the police say, we hear you, we know this is going on, and people who do this will be brought to justice before someone is put in the position of having to use force to flee would go a log way. More resources should be spent to find and prosecute people who join these mobs so that they see it less as a cat and mouse game that they can usually win because no one will try to find them and more as a lost cause that will cost them.

Re: So crazy- biker gang chase in NYC
The problem is with NYPD that refuses to chase biker gangs in general because of "safety" concerns. and now the DA wont prosecute one of the bikers either.

Yup. My BFF DH is NYPD and they are not allowed to chase these asssholes. It's a safety issue which I understand but letting them getting away scott free is BS. Something has to be done. I noticed lately there are more and more reckless bikers in the city.

Don't blame the SUV driver one bit. I am sick over the video. They were scared for their lives, their DAUGHTER'S life. I would have died a million deaths from stress if I was in the RR. I would be praying with all my might.

This is my neighborhood and I witnessed this while walking with my 2 year old. I literally stood against some building for 10 minutes while they drove all over the place

Re: So crazy- biker gang chase in NYC
Animals. I would love for them all to be arrested and put in prison. But we all know it will never happen. Even those that are arrested most likely won't do time. What a wonderful system we have.
They are lucky this was a man who had his family in the car. He was obviously just trying to get his family out of harms way. Had this been a psychotic maniac like them, most would probably be dead. Shot, run over, whatever. They picked on him because they could. Again... Animals.
I would have never stopped. Traffic at red light? Hit reverse and just GO!
My heart hurts for him, his wife and baby. What a terrible thing to experience. I hope they can begin to heal soon.

Even if they can't do time, I wish the system could make it really hurt financially for them.
