9 month old clamps mouth shut when I try to feed her table food

So over the last few weeks I've been trying to get dd to eat table food... I don't think she has a texture issue because she eats level 3 baby foods no problem and on the rare occasions that I can trick her into eating table food she chews and swallows it no problem.

Her issue (I think its behavioral) is the second she sees me trying to feed her table foods her mouth clamps shut and she wants no part of it. She also really doesn't "self feed" herself table foods. She'll play with them, throw them on the floor or give them to the dog but not really put them in her mouth.

We had the same issue for a long time with baby food, the second she saw it her mouth would clamp shut. It took about 2 months before she would open up every time for baby food. Shes an awesome baby food eater now, so I'm hoping the same thing happens with table food.

Anyone have any similar experiences?

I can't relate, but maybe she's just not ready yet, or not interested...

The reason I gave my DD table food when I did is because she was watching me eat, trying to grab it, pushed her food aside and went after what I ate

I would give it some time too. Maybe try every now and again if and when she shows some interest, keep it lighthearted and don't force it. I'm sure she'll come around when she's ready!

Incidentally, we have the opposite problem - will eat stage 1 baby food, and table food without a problem, but I wasted so much stage 2 food, it's driving me up a wall!

I have the same issues, our baby is the same age!!! I just figure we'll keep trying slowly each day and eventually she'll start eating, right?

DS is the same way. 11 months and still does it. He does have a gagging issue, but won't even want to try and table food. I'll put a bagel by him to gum and he throws it on the floor. He does like puffs, but not Cheerios.

He wants nothing to do with table food. I have to put ice-cream or something sweet on his lips so he can taste it to see if he wants it

Even fights fruit. I give up. It has to be from his jarred food

Thanks everyone, I am going to just give it some more time and try not to stress. You would think I would be used to it now considering she did the same thing when we started baby food!

DS is currently 11 months old and just started eating table food within the past month or so. At 9 months, he didn't want anything to do with table food.
