A ? about taking LO on vacation
We're planning our first family vacation with DD. My questions is, if we stay in a regular hotel room (not a suite), what do we do once DD goes to bed? Normally she's asleep by 8, and I guess we could keep her up a little later, but even if she's up until 9:30, we put her to bed and then... try to watch tv or read and hope the light doesn't wake her up? What about when she's going to sleep? We just put her down in her crib and sit there silently until she falls asleep? I'm SO confused about this!

This is why we always get a suite or a room that has a balcony or a patio... just someplace where we can hang out, play cards, read, or whatever, so that we are not all in bed by 8

Re: A ? about taking LO on vacation
I think for that very reason I would look for hotels that only have suites or splurge for one. I've stayed at several hotels that weren't super expensive and had all suites for the rooms. It's worth it IMO to be able to relax in the evening without worrying about waking LO.

Re: A ? about taking LO on vacation
My girls were generally good about falling asleep. We would put them in the pack and play and then turn the lights and TV down. As soon as they were asleep we would turn the TV up and maybe turn the lights on. Never bothered them.

Re: A ? about taking LO on vacation
*shrug* I don’t know. I have never paid for a suite for my daughter to sleep. Its so wasteful to me. Maybe because I don’t have the luxury to pay for that kind of ‘space’ or because I can / will use that money somewhere else.
She has always stayed with us in our room, our bed. Never had an issue. However, AJ has NEVER gone to bed at 8pm. At least not for the night. But she has gone to bed around 9pm and we’re still up talking and watching TV. Never had a problem.

We went to the Bahamas when DS was 8mo. We stayed in a regular room and it was fine. He was so exhausted from the sun/water, that by the time we put him down (later than his usual bedtime, too), he would be passed out!! We watched TV, sat out on the balcony and just hung out. It didn't bother him at all.

Re: A ? about taking LO on vacation
DD is picky and needs her space to sleep. We tried to have her in the same room over the summer and it just didn't work. I was afraid I would wake her which would then make everyone miserable.
We always look for a business type of hotel. One with a living room and bedroom. It actually wasn't expensive at all. We put her int he living room part and we hung out in the bedroom watched tv.
