A bug in food...

Sooooooo I went to heat up some wonton soup that I didn't open last night - still sealed in the container...

I put it in the microwave in its container (which I usually NEVER do bc I try to never use the microwave, let alone microwave plastic but I was being lazy) and when I open the microwave up I see a mosquito or fly in the soup through the container....

So gross!!! The soup is in the garbage...

My question....do I stop ordering from this place? Or would you let it go...I honestly rather see a bug than a hair Chat Icon but still...now I don't want to order from there anymore - but I live in FL and it is NOT easy to find good chinese down here! WWYD?!?!?!?

I am so grossed out!

ETA: has this ever happened to anyone before? with a place they like? I'm just glad I noticed BEFORE i started eating it!Chat Icon

Ehhh... sometimes these things happen.

I would definitely call them and tell them though.

Its probably alreAdy happened and you just havent noticed. It happens. You cant really help it sometimes. If it was a roach or something, i would never go back.

Hmm..that is a really hard one to answer because I know what you mean about finding a good chinese place. When you normally go there do they appear clean? I mean, things happen yknow..there are bugs and things everywhere.

I think the Co. would want to know; If this happens to other customers, it could damage their business. Mary

It seems ok inside, but I can't see that far back inside...We've never gotten sick or anything Chat Icon

It is FL and there are bugs everywhere, a lot more bugs than in NY...and it's not a roach, it looks like a fly and flies go to food....but still....I hope I can get over this! Chat Icon

I didn't make a huge deal about it and just threw it out.... a month or so later we order from there again mostly against my will and there was a FLY inside my CALZONE!!!!!!!!!!! I will NEVER EVER EVERRRRR order from that place again! EVER! GROSSSSSS! As if the hair one wasn't bad enough! YUK!

Just like you get mosquitoes in your house they'll get them too. Would you stop inviting people to your house to eat if you saw a mosquito on your food? Chat Icon

Re: A bug in food...

Ok, I have a similar experience... went to a VERY well known respected sushi place by me with some friends and we ordered edamame... when it came we happily dug in to it. Half way through the steam pot we saw a HUGE...I'm talking BIG roach (it was steamed dead) Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I know, I know.... we kind of just sat there and stared at each other like "WT_ do we do!?!?" We calmly called the waitress over and told her.

We got another bowl of edamame. LOL

Stuff happens, bugs happen. They crawl in during shipping, whatever. I don't easily get grossed out by bugs.

Rats and small rodents would be a WHOLE other story.

and not only did they not comp anything on the meal besides the edamame, we didn't even get a free drink Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon We were more ****** about that!!!!

Re: A bug in food...

i had a foreign bug once in my food... it wasn't a roach but it could have been a beetle but it was one that didn't come from these parts. I didn't go back there for months. and it was one of my FAVORITE places to go. Then I went back and got over my fear of finding another piece of protein that wasn't listed on the menu. Chat Icon

Re: A bug in food...

I personally could not go back...even if its only happened once. Or maybemaybe maybe give it one more shot but inspect everything.

Re: A bug in food...

I would stop ordering from there. Not because I think it doesnt happen elsewhere and it might have been a fluke but I would not be able to eat their food having had that experience. I would always be thinking there were bugs (or hair or whatever to offending item was) in the next meal.
