adding a second bathroom and taxes

Does anyone know how much more $ are charged in taxes result from adding a second bathroom to a house? This is currently a deciding factor on whether FH and I are planning to put in a bid on a home. Thanks!

Are you adding more square footage to the house, or converting a room to a bathroom?

None. Taxes go up when you take up more property!

Taxes will go up for adding a bathroom because you are utilizing more utilities.

I'd say probably $300-500 or so per year.

More utilities? How? Not arguing with you, just the town if they do that. If I'm showering in the new bathroom, I'm not showering in the old bathroom. Same with the sink and toilet.

For T of Islip, the number of bedrooms was the important issue, not the number of bathrooms. Bedrooms implies people, so more rooms = more people.

The town is going to figure if you need a second bathroom, you are expanding your family.

So more utilities.
