advice needed from you moms on newborn sleeping situations

Hey all, I am due in December and will be registering this summer.

I want to know where your newborn slept? What they slept in and how long until they were in the crib?

My nursery will be on the 2nd floor of the house while the master is on the main level. For this reason I do not want to put the baby in the crib from day one because I feel like I will be doing too much up and down the stairs at all hours of the night.

I do not have a lot of room next to my bed for anything big.

Please tell me what you found to work for you and if you have a pic of what you used that would be great too.

Thanks so much. I don't know why this is on my mind already but I feel like I have to have it figured out in my head LOL

Edited to add that I do not think the pack and play will fit in the Master, its a very weird set up

DD slept in the bassinet top of the pack and play until she was three months. Then we moved her to the crib.

Re: advice needed from you moms on newborn sleeping situations

We bought an Arm's Reach Cosleeper to put next to the bed with the intention of her sleeping in there.

However, DD slept in her bouncy seat, which we put in the cosleeper next to the bed for 3 months because she needed to be upright.

She transitioned to the crib in one night at 3 months old.

I wanted her in my room for the first couple weeks b/c I was BFing...I would have transitioned her to the crib sooner but she wouldn't sleep laying flat on her back and I wasn't comfortable putting anything in the crib with her.

HE slept in the napper in the PnP for the first week (but only b/c bassinet wasn't ready) - he's been in the bassiney the last 4 months, will tansition soon to crib. I was just at BRU and they have some small bassinets that may fit in your room.

DD is sleeping in the Fisher-Price Newborn Rock & Play Sleeper next to our bed.

she sleeps well in it and i like it.

right now she's nearly 2 months. she'll prolly be in it til at least 3, but could prolly go longer if we wanted.

We also have the nursery on the second floor and master on the first. The boys slept in the bassinet part of a double pack and play for 3.5 months. It would not fit in our bedroom, so we put it in the den and took turns sleeping on the couch for the first two months (we were up A LOT), then after that we slept in the master bedroom and we could hear them in the den. It was so much easier having them right next to the kitchen.

My DC slept in the pnp for ths first 2 months & we kept it in the livingroom. I slept in the LR with him because I didn't want to wake my DH during baby's middle of th enight feedings. We then moved him into his own room in his crib at 2 months, when he started STTN.

I have this and it is AWESOME. DD is still sleeping in it and she's 12 weeks old. We actually returned our PNP because this is such a ood product, and it's cheap too! It cradles them so they feel snug and secure and it fold almost flat so you can store it if you want. Highly recommend!

100% ITA!!! Seriously, this is the BEST thing we got at our shower, and I didn't even have it on my registry! It's only $50 and it's perfect. My DS has slept in this rocker 90% of the time since he came home from the hospital. The other 10% I'd say are the nights that DS needs some help to sleep, so we'll put him in the swing. That is another lifesaver for us. I'd say to make sure you get a plug in swing. I can't imagine how much $$$ we'd have wasted on those expensive batteries by now if our swing was battery operated.

Oh, yes, I totally agree, the swing has also been our lifesaver! We have one that plugs in and another small one that uses batteries that we can move around the house.
