advice on switching formulas
Ok so here is what we've tried: (ds has reflux) Enfamil newborn- nightmare. He wouldn't drink it and it made him constipated (given in the hospital). Similac Alimentum- spit up less, was only pooping every other day, PAINFUL gas. SO fussy! Nutramigen- spit up a ton, pooping every other day and PAINFUL gas. SO fussy! Good Start Gentle- less gas at night, pooping every day (although watery), but painful burps. Much more content while awake during the day. Although now his naps are becoming worse. He would take 2 hour naps and now he's waking every 15 minutes with a fart or a burp. I'm so tired of this formula guessing game and waiting weeks to find out what works.
Please don't tell me to wait 2 full weeks before changing formulas. If you see a difference within a few days and it only goes down hill... why would you continue?
anyone have advice on what to try next?

Re: advice on switching formulas
What about a soy formula? Or a different brand of sensitive.
My youngest was on 3 and really only had mild reflux and that was frustrating so I can only imagine what you must be going through.

Re: advice on switching formulas
Is your DC on any med's for the reflux? I can honestly say that I have tried 7 formulas at least and then when DS was put on prevacid and Nutramigen...together it was a life changing experience!!!
DS was taken off the reflux med's at 5 months, but we stuck to the Nutramigen due to a milk allergy which he grew out of as well.
It's so frustrating so I feel your pain.

I know the feeling!
My son is 9 months old now and we did not find the proper formula for him until he was 3.5 months old. He had severe reflux and tried every milk based formula known to man, with the exception of amino acid.
He did best with Similac Sensitive and prevacid every day. Have you tried this yet?

Yes. He's on prilosec which seems to be working. Now we just need to work on the formula.
