after the baby is born are you.......
going back to work when you are able to? or be a stay at home mom?
for me it wont pay for me to go back to work.. i dont have a high paying job. and DH and i have the same work schedule so we would have to put the child in daycare.
i can see myself getting bored very quickly though.. i have worked since i was 16

Re: after the baby is born are you.......
After taking 8 weeks of maternity leave I will be going back to work. Can't afford to have me stay home and being that my mom will be watching , I feel comfortable doing so!

I have 12 wks maternity leave. After that, I plan to return to work PT for the summer and my mom will help (she's a teacher). will start daycare mid-September at about 5.5 months.

Re: after the baby is born are you.......
I will be returning to work after my maternity leave (12 weeks) is over. We definitely cannot afford to pay our bills on one income. I wish I could get a part-time job unstead of returning full time, but it is what it is.

Re: after the baby is born are you.......
I took 3 months off and that was pushing it. I was also out for 3 months before he was born on bed rest.
I would have taken forever off if would could afford it.

Re: after the baby is born are you.......
must go back ASAP. my job isn't the kind you can walk away from, and then return.... I'll use up my sick time and that's it.

I wish I could stay home, but I can't.
I am probably going to work 4-10 hour days and have one day off per week.

Re: after the baby is born are you.......
yea my job doesnt even have maternity leave.. (i work in a family owned company)
so, it leaves us no choice but for me to stay at home.. we figured that if i went back to work, we would have to put the child in daycare and it would probably just cancel out my pay.. so it doesnt make sense.
DH said he has to work alot of overtime.. i guess its what we have to do.. i just feel bad for him..

Re: after the baby is born are you.......
As long as I'm feeling up to it i'll be returning in just 4 weeks .. have no choice in the matter due to income. If I have a longer recovery - in case of C-sections I will take 6 weeks but no longer then that. However I make my own schedule being as I am a spec ed teacher and work for agencies taking cases so it will be a little easier because I make my schedule around DH, my mom and my grandparents.

I will go back to work. I want to for my sanity. I can take 7 months off if I want. I am not sure.

Re: after the baby is born are you.......
I am a high school teacher and will be out for the remainder of the year (I can use sick days for my disability period -- 6 or 8 weeks) and then I will probably be unpaid for the rest of the year (unless there are complications and I get a FMLA form filled out). Then, I am taking maternity leave (unpaid) until the mid year point of next school year (last week of January 2009). It will be difficult, but I really want to be home as long as I can. My DH is also a teacher (in a different district) and can use his sick days for all 12 weeks of FMLA, so he will be taking several weeks when I return to work. I guess we will rack up some credit card debt and make some sacrifices, but it will all be worth it. We both feel we are lucky to be able to take some time, whether it is paid or not.

Re: after the baby is born are you.......
If my MIL can't watch the baby, I will be staying home. DH doesn't want Daycare, and Financially I don't think it makes too much sense

Ditto. Hopefully I can get something in my department P/T, but there are not many positions that are p/t. I will definately go per diem though so I could work when they have open shifts and I'm available.
