Age Appropriate Toys....Do you always buy age appropriate toys?

I usually do, but there are somethings that DD just takes a liking to and they are totally not appropriate for her according to the package. I get tempted to buy them but then put them back because she is, according to the box, too young.

What do you do?

Yeah, I just bought her a fisher price baby doll high chair thingy that says 3 and up but she LOVES it!! She takes the baby out, puts the baby in, feeds the baby the bottle, takes her out. It's too cute for words Chat Icon

With a 5yo and a 2yo, the 2yo almost never has age-appropriate toys... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon With DS, we used the ages as guidelines, but used our own discretion. Some times the age ranges are for skill level, sometimes for choking hazards/safety, sometimes for things that normally keep that age range interested and entertained. Unless it's for safety reasons, I usually buy "older" toys, since DC seem to like the more advanced skills and ideas.

Depends upon the toy...

Basic rule of thumb is that toys that say 3 and up may contain choking hazards so you have to use your own discretion...

Caden has alphabet blocks that he loves and they said 2 and up...he's had them since he was 6 months and plays with them all the time.

I use my own common sense on them.

I almost never look at the box. If the piece look too small I won't get it, but other than that I find a lot of his stuff is 2 and up and those are his favorites.
