Allergies while pregnant... Will it affect kids?
I found out I am allergic to wheat and dairy and have been avoiding eating them. I'm 14 weeks pregnant with twins and am wondering if I am putting them at a higher risk for being allergic to wheat and dairy by not exposing them to it while I'm pregnant. Does anyone know anything about this? Or know of any drs that may know? I asked my fertility dr but his reply was vague. I put a call into my allergist but he's not in the office... TIA!

My baby was just dx with a milk allergy. I have a lot of other allergies, but not milk. Her GI doctor said that a parent having any allergies of any type can increase babys chance of a milk allergy. I know this doesn't really answer your question specifically, but unfortunately, it may be more that you HAVE an allergy and not what you eat that can predispose your baby to it.

Thanks for replying! My dr earlier today said it "may" help to eat wheat and dairy in the 3rd trimester... To slowly introduce it back in. I'm not allergic as in severe reactions, epipen kind of allergic... But it is enough to get my immune system into attack mode... Wonder what the allergists thoughts are. Guess I will find out tomorrowl. Thanks again!

What? Eat what you're allergic to? That is insane. Allergic reactions tend to worsen in severity with each exposure.
Family history of allergies is a factor in allergies in your children, but it doesn't mean that your allergies will even be the same. They have done studies which determined that what mom eats does not matter in this regard.
I am allergic to shellfish/fish. DD1 has no allergies, not even environmental. DH has no allergies. DD2 has several allergies, all of which she has outgrown, except she is allergic to peanuts/treenuts still. She is NOT allergic to fish/shellfish that we are aware of.
