Allowance
Does anyone's DH give them an allowance? Like how much they can spend on clothes, etc in a month?
This is our #1 argument. We dont have an allowance now but he wants to start this...

No set allowance but I know my limits. If I spent a ton of money on clothes one month he'd be pizzed off since we have so many bills.

I sneak most of my stuff into the house- just to avoid the conversation
I have my own budget- I spend and save as I choose to do

We are not shoppers. I'm unusual, in the past I was addicted to saving and investing seriously!
DH said I'm the one woman he knows that rarely spends money on herself so no allowance for me.

I wanted to add that I feel part of the reason DH does not say anything to me is b/c while he is the one bringing home the bacon I take care of all the bills and financials. He knows I will not spend any money until all bills are paid and taken care of, money has been added to the savings account, etc.
I may spend a lot of money but I am responsible about it so he really has no reason to say anything to me.

I never have to answer to him if I want to buy pretty shoes. He never has to answer to me if he wants to enroll in the dragon of the month club.

The rest of the money - after a certain amount gets put into savings, is for the house (bills, food, cars, etc.) and things we do together.

To answer: No, there's not allowance. I'm not an 8 year old. I work, I make just as much money if not more and I am chief in charge of me. Even if I didn't work and make money I would be in charge of money and there would be no mommy or daddy in the relationship.
We are grown ups..one bank account and we treat it with respect..
He wants to golf and then drink, I want shoes and then pedicures...to each his/her own.

Same here. I put 80% of my paycheck into our joint account and have 20% for myself.

We gice each other an allowance. We get paid on opposite Fridays so each week we take out a certain amt each for "play money" (aka allowance)
