I don't think you're crazy for taking him. But I guess I'm in the minority here because if it were me, I would not be taking a baby/toddler/child on a cruise (unless it's a Disney one). I have to think that you want to go to relax, which you already know you won't really be able to do. Your MIL will be there to help you, but I'm sure she is going to want to relax as well.

I personally don't feel that I want to take DD on extravagant vacations every year. I'm not saying that we shouldn't go away with her, but if we start taking her on cruises, island vacations, etc. what will be left for her to look forward to when she grows up? When I was a child, we went to Boston, Philly, DC, Disney, etc. Then when I got older, going to Bermuda, Bahamas, DR, Europe, Hawaii was something I was excited about because it wasn't something "regular" for me. KWIM?

Believe me, I want to give Marron the best that I can, but I also want her to look forward to things as she enters each stage of her life.

I hear what you are saying. But at 13 months old what kind of vacation is there for him to look forward to? It won't be a cruise every year. Doing the disney cruise would be too much. We're talking about flying and then going on a boat. That is too much for a 13 month old. I guess we gotta do the best we can.

The good thing about this cruise is that's it's freestyle which means we don't have to dress up for formal nights and go to dinner at a set time. We go when we want. We have been on this ship before.
