Amazon Mom Members...are you going to buy prime?
I'm debating whether to bite the bullet and buy prime membership before the January 24th deadline or to just go back to buying stuff at BJs. I got really spoiled having the year of free prime and having stuff show up at my door. Now I'm not so sure if it's worth it since the discount is changing...

Re: Amazon Mom Members...are you going to buy prime?
When my free time expires I am definitely buying prime. This has saved me so much money and time this year I dont mind now having to pay for it. I feel like I'll do it for a year and see how it goes. I know I'll probably make my money back in one month with the free shipping. Plus I have a kindle so I can take advantage of the books and since you can share it with 4 people which is nice.

Re: Amazon Mom Members...are you going to buy prime?
I am so upset that they are cancelling my 30% off subscription. I am more pissed that they wont let me make any extra deliveries now.
That being said. I compared the BJ price and the new Amazon discount and Amazon comes out to be 1 cent cheaper per diaper. In calculating it i assumed i was using a $6 dollar off BJ coupon and $1 off Pampers manufacturers coupon and Amazon is slightly cheaper. Since i dont have a BJs membership i am probably going to bite the bullet and pay for Amazon Prime. I too have gotten used to getting everything super fast. And, it is such a help around Christmas time and whenver i order gifts.
ETA: Amazon is currently having a $1 off coupon for pampers that you can click on the page where you would buy the diapers, so that actually makes Amazon 2 cents cheaper per diaper, but you can only use that coupon once, unless you set up different accounts

Baby Cheapskate did a comparison and it came to a draw, but I think, especially where I live, convenience must be factored in.

Find someone to split it with! Me, my brother, sister and my brother's SIL are all on one account with different addresses and CCs.

Re: Amazon Mom Members...are you going to buy prime?
So funny that this post is here today. I've been wracking my brain all weekend over this stupid 79 dollars. The year of prime was great and I buy a lot from amazon but I keep thinking with 25 dollars you get free shipping anyway, do I really need things to come in 2 days? I'm the type of person who really buys in advance. I have a stockpile of diapers and wipes. How much will the membership go up to after the 24th? I can't believe how hard I'm debating this, lol, then later I'll go spend $79 on junk I'm the pharmacy!

Re: Amazon Mom Members...are you going to buy prime?
We calculated it out, and to make the most of the Prime membership we'd have to spend more per month than we currently do on diapers and wipes. Anything else we buy on amazon we always do free shipping so for us it just doesn't make sense. That said, amazon still seems to be the cheapest option so I will probably keep getting my diapers and wipes from there, just w/o the fast shipping.

Re: Amazon Mom Members...are you going to buy prime?
I bought it the other day (although just prime, my mom membership ran out, do I still get mom benefits??). I just love the convenience and buy SO much on Amazon it makes it worth it. A trip to the store takes me 30 min round trip and 75% of the time they never have what I need anyway!!

Re: Amazon Mom Members...are you going to buy prime?
I thought even after the "prime" was over you still got the free super saver shipping on all items from the subscribe and save store which would be the diapers and wipes.
IMO I don't see why i'd pay for the prime for the 2 day shipping on other items as it doesnt pertian to the subscribe and save anymore.
It seems like i'm the only one who interpreted it this way, so if anyone has any other information it would be appreciated.

You still get the free super saver shipping on the diapers and wipes (and anything else that's subscribe and save), but the discount would only be 5%. If you join prime, they'll let you keep the additional Amazon Mom discount of 15% on top of the 5% for doing subscribe and save.

Re: Amazon Mom Members...are you going to buy prime?
It is my understanding that in order to get the amazon mom discount of 15% you must be an amazon prime member. That is why i am ticked! Otherwise i wouldnt care about the free two day shipping

Re: Amazon Mom Members...are you going to buy prime?
I bought Amazon Prime last year and it's the best thing ever! I ordered a ton of Christmas stuff, craft stuff, random stuff - 99% of which is free shipping!
I hate spending the $79, but for me it's worth it since I do use Amazon to purchase other stuff. I actually get diapers and wipes at Costco, so I don't even care that much about the Amazon Mom craziness going on right now.

This is what is irking me. When they dropped the discount to 20% for new items they swore up and down that existing subscriptions would be able to keep the 30%.

Re: Amazon Mom Members...are you going to buy prime?
I reread the email they sent me, and I am a little confused. In my email it said I will still have Amazon Mom until May 2012 as I have ordered enough products on subscribe and save to have my subscription continue until my one year anniversary. Does this mean that they will continue at 30% off for diapers and wipes or will it drop to 20%? I think DD will be in the same size of diapers until then and I am really hopeful that she will be done with diapers by then or soon there after. Will all subscriptions be downgraded to 20% after 1/24/12? I want to add another delivery but it is not letting me do so. They actually skipped my delivery that should have been here on 1/11/12. They said they are not going to deliver it until 1/30. I am really annoyed about that.

I still have my free membership. I don't think I'm going to pay for it when it ends, but I am getting my full money's worth of it while I have it!

Re: Amazon Mom Members...are you going to buy prime?
No way. This is a money grab by them to get people to buy prime. I hope it backfires. Diapers.com,if they were smart, should start a program like amazon mom. Grab those displaced moms!
