from my post above you can see that I'm pro-integrated classrooms and really believe that for MY son it will probably be a godsend.
Your point is a very valid one and I do think the label does sting a little and causes parents to make the wrong decision in terms of that fear of labeling. It's a shame really. I don't think Diana was saying that she doesn't want her child to be labeled special ed...it's moreso that she is not confident that her child will continue to thrive in this type of setting.
Yes, thank you Lisa, you hit the nail on the head. I am scared that Jack will take 3 steps back instead of going forward because I will be taking him out of his comfort zone, where it took a very long time for him to get adjusted. And, I would take him out and make the switch in a heartbeat if his current teachers had concerns about his learning - but they don't.
